TSC TRUSTEE DR. TONY ZAVALETA-REID GIVES INSIGHT TO WORKFORCE TRAINING AND HOW LOCAL POLITICAL UNITS ARE MORE UNITED

First some clean up.  Barton is the expert and can better speak to how many GBIC meetings Tetreau missed.  He knows best if Montoya is properly representing the numbers.  The way I remember it when Tetreau was on the Castro Pod Cast and Galonsky would defer to Jessica to address the problems and her golden answer was she was not there for that meeting. But Barton has maintained he times of the missed meetings so I hope he will speak to it.

HOW A TROLL GOT IT ALL WRONG AS TO DR. ZAVALETA-REID

On Barton's page a troll showed his ignorance with the following:  "Tony is part of the problem. Old School vato."  I will get to it, but in the 10 minutes of the Pod Cast I saw Tony showed great innovation and is anything but old school.

Tony showed great insight into the workforce needs and how training needs to be done.  He does not want the courses based on semesters.  He wants a more fluid system where students have more flexible start times instead of Fall or Spring Semester.

A big insight was his statement of how after he got on the Board a former BISD Superintendent called him and said Dr. Tercero would not even return her calls.  That becomes another just cause for her discharge if she chooses to now file in state court.

What came of the discussion is since the appointment of the new TSC president cooperation between TSC and BISD has improved tremendously.  Plus I can say the BND is working well with TSC.  The problem is simple, the BND overestimated Mike Hernandez's say in any deal.  If you remember to stop Juliete Garcia from interfering with UT negotiations they had to pass a law banning her from negotiating.  The BND needs to learn they do not have to please Mike Hernandez.  Texas A & M is very ready to work with the BND and TSC, and as Mayor Mendez said TSTC should be included.

Also of note is Tony claimed TSC has extensive space ready now and can be ready in months for job training.  This raises the specter of would the BND just be better off to use the TSC space and instead use the available money it has to install the equipment.  I think TSC needs to present to the BND just exactly how must space is available and how the BND just needs to convert the TSC space into the needed job training area based on the BND expected needs.

Last I need to point out how the trolls kept on posting Brownsville students would have to drive to Harlingen under the original proposed deal.  This was false.  The facility is expected to be built at the Port.  This means Brownsville students would have been closer to the facility than Harlingen students.

I think in the end we will see training at the BND facility, TSC, and TSTC.  But for sure the BND needs to look at the TSC available space and seriously ask itself where is its money better spent?  Starting from scratch at the BND, or using the available space at TSC and then using its money to build out the training area.
