JERRY MCHALE HAS MELT DOWN AS HE GROVELS FOR ADVERTISING DOLLARS IN COMPETITION TO THE BV'S POLICY OF NO FEE TO PROMOTE ALL THE CANDIDATES

Here is McHale's game - he promotes a candidate with a free post and then emails them and says this is how he can help them if they pay.  Gilbert Hinoloja agreed to pay him for his wife Cyndi for JP rather than face McHale's endless attacks.  Until that check cleared McHale had nothing but bad things to say about the Hinojosas.

With the BV providing free advertising to all candidates, Jerry has to go on the attack with lies.

I said it has been rumored Senator Lucio is going to pass the torch to his son Eddie Lucio III.  According to McHale this is me saying fact.  Then because he just throws shit out McHale says it is rumored Ruben Cortez will run for something.  His post is unclear as to what Ruben Cortez intends to run for.

I asked my readers to send me any social media link which shows, Eddie Lucio Jr, Eddie Lucio III, or Alex Dominguez are running for reelection.  I can find no evidence of same.  This only means I cannot find evidence of same, but maybe it is there which is why I asked for help.

Jerry of course posts no evidence any of them are running for reelection.  He simply states they are.

The election cycle is underway.  But yet no FB reelection pages for any of them which I can find.

Like I said, everyone is posturing pending Senator Lucio's decision if it is time to pass the seat to his son.  If he does there will be a strong anti-dynasty movement.  This is what Lucio fears.

The other side is, Alex Dominguez could be giving his opponent for state rep a head start.  If he chooses state rep I  think he will win.  He had a great first year in the Texas House.  He has a good verifiable record.

But McHale cannot compete with free and I am eating into his drinking money, so he must attack.

GMS LAWSUIT TO PROCEED ON AUGUST 13TH AT 10:30

First the trolls.  There was no conspiracy to provide the BV live coverage of the City Commission meeting.  Any fool can go to Brownsville.tv, click on the YouTube link and then if you know how to, copy the link and post it to your social media.

WHAT IS SET

Motion to Dismiss Individual Claims, Docket Control Conference, Plea to the Jurisdiction

Judge Pate made clear at the last hearing there was no basis to the city's Plea to the Jurisdiction because he had already found the city violated the Texas Open Meetings Act.

So now the city is going to continue to spend money on the appeal, and for its plea to the jurisdiction even though Judge Pate already made clear it is without merit.

Now to be fair the new city commission has not been fully briefed and  these decisions were made by the old city commission.

But now it is on the new city commission to make this right and end  the billing.

I personally like Republic for my residential service.  I am very happy with them.  My brush pick up is regular, and I have a lot of brush given how many palms I have.  Something is trimmed every weekend.

BUT HERE IS THE CATCH

A sitting city commissioner is making money on the city's contract with Republic.  Republic is a national company unlike GMS.  Republic has a lot to lose nationally if it gets caught up in a scandal in Brownsville.

THE SOLUTION IS SIMPLE

At Tuesday's next city commission the commission needs to order their counsel to issue subpoenas on Republic national for all emails and messages between Republic and their local representatives with any city commissioner or their spouses.

Given how business is done in Brownsville Republic national will find disturbing information.  This is always the nature of the beast in business.  It is actually not unique to Brownsville.  They will see a potential scandal.  Republic will pull its bid for commercial pick up and the litigation will end.

CITY COMMISSION MEETING

McNair Street renaming to be reconsidered based on a great historical presentation by a resident.

Tetreau resigned GBIC rather than face removal

City Commission denied Tetreau's nomination of Carlos Guerrero or Erasmo Castro to GBIC.  Let there be no mistake Castro was not nominated without Carlos Marin's and Mike Hernandez consent Tetreau got mad.  Jessica did a shout out to Castro, "now you see who your friends are."  It is not about friendship it is about competency.

Jessica do you want all of the comments I have from Castro on how many times he claimed Angela Nix was preparing a lawsuit against you by him.  Both of your are a joke.

I will get back to who got it, it was a Nick Schaefer, of SchaeferStevedoring Inc, a Port business.  You see Jessica wanted Castro who has not been able to prove any meaningful employment on GBIC, and the Commission instead chose a successful port business owner.

Jessica will be Jessica.  Will Castro denounce her clear compadre nomination? - do not hold your breath.

Schaefer Stevedoring Inc

PRIMARY PAGE UPDATED

I have spoken to a lot of the people in the anti-Saenz group and no one knows of anyone willing to run against him.  If this holds he will win reelection.  There may be nothing to see here.

State Reps 37. and 38

This is Alex Dominguez and Eddie Lucio III.  I can find no FB page for reelection for either.  I can find no FB page for Eddie Lucio Jr running for reelection for State Senate.

I think in all of these races people are posturing.  We may see a lot of surprises.  I personally believe Alex Dominguez can beat Eddie Lucio III in the race for State Senate.  I will keep an eye on all races.

More updates for constable tomorrow.

HOME DEPOT PULLS ITS WEED KILLER AFTER LAWSUITS AGAINST ROUNDUP SHOW GLYPHOSATE CAUSES CANCER

So yesterday when I realized I did not have enough of this product for my project in the alley, I went to Home Depot to but more and learned it has been pulled by HD.  HD does have a roundup product deemed safe.  We shall see if it works as well as HDX.

If you have this product do not use it.  Also keep the container in the event in the future you develop a cancer linked to glyphosate.

TSC TRUSTEE DR. TONY ZAVALETA-REID GIVES INSIGHT TO WORKFORCE TRAINING AND HOW LOCAL POLITICAL UNITS ARE MORE UNITED

First some clean up.  Barton is the expert and can better speak to how many GBIC meetings Tetreau missed.  He knows best if Montoya is properly representing the numbers.  The way I remember it when Tetreau was on the Castro Pod Cast and Galonsky would defer to Jessica to address the problems and her golden answer was she was not there for that meeting. But Barton has maintained he times of the missed meetings so I hope he will speak to it.

HOW A TROLL GOT IT ALL WRONG AS TO DR. ZAVALETA-REID

On Barton's page a troll showed his ignorance with the following:  "Tony is part of the problem. Old School vato."  I will get to it, but in the 10 minutes of the Pod Cast I saw Tony showed great innovation and is anything but old school.

Tony showed great insight into the workforce needs and how training needs to be done.  He does not want the courses based on semesters.  He wants a more fluid system where students have more flexible start times instead of Fall or Spring Semester.

A big insight was his statement of how after he got on the Board a former BISD Superintendent called him and said Dr. Tercero would not even return her calls.  That becomes another just cause for her discharge if she chooses to now file in state court.

What came of the discussion is since the appointment of the new TSC president cooperation between TSC and BISD has improved tremendously.  Plus I can say the BND is working well with TSC.  The problem is simple, the BND overestimated Mike Hernandez's say in any deal.  If you remember to stop Juliete Garcia from interfering with UT negotiations they had to pass a law banning her from negotiating.  The BND needs to learn they do not have to please Mike Hernandez.  Texas A & M is very ready to work with the BND and TSC, and as Mayor Mendez said TSTC should be included.

Also of note is Tony claimed TSC has extensive space ready now and can be ready in months for job training.  This raises the specter of would the BND just be better off to use the TSC space and instead use the available money it has to install the equipment.  I think TSC needs to present to the BND just exactly how must space is available and how the BND just needs to convert the TSC space into the needed job training area based on the BND expected needs.

Last I need to point out how the trolls kept on posting Brownsville students would have to drive to Harlingen under the original proposed deal.  This was false.  The facility is expected to be built at the Port.  This means Brownsville students would have been closer to the facility than Harlingen students.

I think in the end we will see training at the BND facility, TSC, and TSTC.  But for sure the BND needs to look at the TSC available space and seriously ask itself where is its money better spent?  Starting from scratch at the BND, or using the available space at TSC and then using its money to build out the training area.

SERGIO CHAPA GOES FROM LOCAL TV NEWS TO SAN ANTONIO TO THE HOUSTON CHRONICLE

I have known Sergio for some time since his days with local TV news.  He left to write  for a business magazine in San Antonio and now writes business news for the Houston Chronicle.  He will be our go-to- guy for the status of LNG.

Will Ripley is another local success story.

WILL IS BASE IN TOKYO AND IS KNOWN FOR IS COVERAGE OF NORTH KOREA

Both were displeased with the soft news reporting known by our local news stations and instead opted out for bigger venues.  Will left the LRGV and went to Denver where CNN eventually picked him up from a local station.

TEXAS A & M TO MIKE HERNANDEZ  YOU DO NOT SPEAK FOR US

The following from Mike Hernandez to his paid and bought propagandist Montoya does not reflect Texas A & M's position.  Mike will be getting a memo he does not have authority to speak for Texas A & M.  This is Juliette Garcia all over again dragging UT into the Lincoln Park mess without their consent.  When contacted and sued UT put Juliette Garcia in her place and Texas A & M will put Mike Hernandez in his place.  The deal will be rewritten with the full support of TSC, the COB, BND, and TSTC that all will be equal partners.  The COB is leading the battle this is a matter of TSC and TSTC working with the BND to insure all educational assets are tapped for work force training at the BND.

From Mayor Trey Mendez:

"I am 100 % open with working with A&M on whatever initiatives they would like to work on .... .  In fact, there is another one we have been discussing for a while that would be great for Brownsville. "

.....

" I also advised the port and TSC officials that it would be a mistake to not work with BOTH TSC and TSTC because they need them both and all hands on deck if we are going to solve the workforce gap in SoTex."

Texas A & M committed to Brownsville its help long before Mike Hernandez showed up.

The following by Montoya does not reflect Texas A & M's position.

"Now that the proposal has been tabled, it's unknown whether Hernandez will be willing to continue his efforts at the port. Some of his closest advisers say that Hernandez was deeply disappointed in the port's board caving in to the TSC complaints as well as those from Mayor Mendez.

"I doubt that he would reconsider," said one. "Brownsville lost UT and now it's losing A&M. They want to be in control all the time."

Later in the day, Hernandez said that: TAMUS through TEEX had offered the Port of Brownsville a workforce training partnership with Texas State Technical College to address the pressing workforce training needs but the local community college who we were willing to include in the partnership did not want TSTC, the top technical training provider in Texas, to be involved. Therefore, we feel it’s best to step away from the Port of Brownsville to consider other possible alternatives. We thank Chairman Reed for his vision and support."

IF YOU REMEMBER THE HISTORY

Some 4 years ago or so  TSC rebuffed Mike Hernandez's strong arming and he retaliated by donating a large sum of money to TSTC.  The MOU is what it is because Mike is obsessed with settling scores.  All he managed to do was humiliate himself with the Texas A & M Board of Trustees.  They know the facts and will do the right thing notwithstanding the fact Mike Hernandez is a vindictive prick.

Mike is determined to destroy TSC to settle his score.  Now he will deal with his stunt before his fellow Texas A & M Board Members. Another dumb ass crying like a baby when people do not give in to his strong arming.

COURT TOSSES LILY TERCERO VERDICT

Will the trolls now say Trey Mendez and the other board members did the right thing.  Nope because they are trolls.

So Lily gets a dollar, and the right to refile the breach of contract in state court.  Limitations on breach is 4 years. She was fired in 2016.  TSC is very ready for a defense.

NOTE ON BND, TSC AND TSTC - Texas A & M, Mike Hernandez does not speak for them and he will be getting a memo about the issue.  Juliete Garcia all over again speaking for UT without their permission.  More tomorrow on the real story and what is really happening.

Texas A & M is fine with making TSC part of the deal and so to is TSC and the City of Brownsville in working with TSTC.  It was Mike settling a score which mess this up.  Mike will be taken out of the mix and the deal will go forward as BND, TSC and TSTC.

BECAUSE AS A PEOPLE WE HAVE LOST OUR WAY, AND OUR VALUES I AM DOING A POST ON REKINDLED

Rekindle means revive something which has been lost.

The author states in private conversations that she intended the book to act as a vehicle to see now in terms of 17th century England and New England. " I want to be engaging so this world’s irritation fades and the 17th century comes to life making people think about first things..."

The author is a chemist and mathematician by trade.

The book is historical fiction, so while some of the characters are the compilation of many real people, the factual events are mostly real.

We still teach in our schools they came for religious freedom. There is zero truth to this. Rhode Island where my family started was the first colony to separate church from state. The book mentions the battle for religious freedom under King James fought by my grandfather 13 generations removed, Edward.

Once the story reaches the new world you see the reality of religious oppression by the original settlers. There is a section where my grandfather 11 generations removed, George, was kidnapped from Rhode Island and taken to Connecticut to be sent back to England to be tried for heresy, such as his grandfather was. The Narragansett people raided the jail in Connecticut, and returned George to Rhode Island.

THE POINT

We as a people really have no historical knowledge of how this country was built, how people had to fight for religious freedom, and the great compromises which had to be written into the constitution to make the Republic real.

In her book Teresa hopes to get people to think how we are where we are today, because we have forgotten about yesterday.

The book is a good read. If we do not go back to fighting for our freedoms, sooner than later we are going to be a 100% corporatist state. We need to look to our beginnings to understand where we are headed today and how to fix things.

GRAND JURY REFERRAL

Texas AG Ken Paxton's indictment was on a road trip before it came down.  The point of this post is to show how groups or individuals can force indictments over the will of the DA.

"Although the securities board declined to refer Paxton’s case to prosecutors, the liberal watchdog group Texans for Public Justice last year filed a criminal complaint with the Public Integrity Unit in the Travis County district attorney’s office. The unit, however, referred the matter to Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis, saying it lacked jurisdiction because the alleged offenses would have occurred in Collin County."

Statesman

"Ty Clevenger is a marked man, not in organized crime circles, but in the legal world of judges and lawyers."

After Travis County officials announced that the case was out of their county's jurisdiction, Ty started calling Collin County officials to see if they'd take the case.

"They wouldn't give me a straight answer," he says. In Ty-Land, that's how trouble begins.

Ty started writing about Paxton's problems on his lawflog.com blog. (Yes, his blog probably causes heartburn for public officials, some of whom he refers to as Mafioso.)

Then in a move that attracted criticism because it's so unorthodox, he wrote to 12 members of a sitting Collin County grand jury and asked them to consider looking at Paxton's case.

One or more grand jurors asked to see the Paxton file. Collin officials were forced to write to Austin to get it. And after that, a special prosecutor was appointed.

Contacting grand jurors and asking them to investigate the top law enforcement official in Texas? Who does that? But it worked."

Dallas Morning News

You can also read how he forced two federal judges to resign from the bench.

I am working on two grand jury referrals.  One is for Cameron County and one is for Travis County.  The DOJ has jurisdiction over the Travis County one, so I think that DA will be more cautionary and work with me since I have the admission of criminal conduct in a court transcript for violation of both state and federal law.

We the People own the justice system - not Saenz, or any other DA or the FBI or DOJ.

In the case of Barry Horn the DA and the defendant's attorneys covered over Barry Horn was a internet sexual predator.  The guilty men who raped Martinez were protected.  When this goes to the grand jury careers will end and it will go to the grand jury

MIKE HERNANDEZ REMAINS DUMB ASS OF THE YEAR

As the BV reported Mike Hernandez's farewell address was all a ruse.  On a day the city was focused on the new city commission he paid Montoya to make it about him leaving.  One big lie.

Montoya is rolling in the money and dumb ass Hernandez thinks he is going to take down the new city commission and GBIC by paying Montoya to lie and post endless propaganda pieces.  Those paying  Montoya for ads are going to learn the new energy in this town is going to go against anyone associated with Montoya, Hernandez, and Marin.

The new city commission has not even had a full regular meeting and Montoya under Hernandez's payroll attacks the city for  the flooding.  Montoya's own man Alex Dominguez was instrumental in bringing the new money to Cameron county to help with the problem.  Why not ask Alex where all of that money went he got for flooding?  Yea right.

The reality is it takes money, planning, bids, environmental permits etc.  Montoya knows all of this and knows the county and city are putting together a plan.  So why make it appear the new city commission is failing already?  Hernandez is paying to print this nonsense knowing full well Montoya can then post troll comments or Hernandez himself to attack Trey Mendez.  It is like dealing with children who fail to understand we see the obvious.

Then this morning the steel mill never promised to the city of Brownsville any more than the still mill at the port.  On that note, the last published word on the steel mill at the port is dated June 19, 2019. "Arkansas-based Big River Steel is also doing its due diligence with Brownsville to possibly build a $1.6 billion steel mill that would be capable of producing 1.6 million tons of steel annually. The plan would be to export the steel to Mexico and to supply U.S. auto manufacturing facilities, port officials said."

Source:

With the port closer to making the ship channel deeper, Big River is getting closer to making a final decision.

Why is none of this in Montoya's report?  It does not fit the propaganda narrative being pushed by Hernandez and Marin.

Do you really believe when Marin sold that land he did not sell it on a promise he and Hernandez controlled the city and GBIC and the new buyers would make a nice profit on this non-existent steel plant?

THEN COMES THE SAP

Still reeling over being played on the other story first prints a story claiming the mayor can make a name for himself if he  controls the growth of dollar stores.  One, if the SAP had an ounce of awareness on the issue he would know the dollar stores are trying to move into high dollar neighborhoods because they see a market for people wanting in and out of  the store fast.

But the laughable part is he challenges Mayor Mendez to control the Dollar store expansion because SNAP recipients are using Dollar stores to buy junk food.  And that would be because Walmart and HEB do not sell junk food?  The only junk was the SAPS opinion piece.

And even on the proposed new SNAP eligibility requirements the SAP gets it wrong.  The following is completely false. "The U.S. Department of Agriculture is saying the cost-cutting move will limit access to food stamps for households with savings and other assets. In Brownsville, that may not be very many of the benefits recipients."

First no real wordsmith in the English language would have written the sentence because depending how you read it, it has opposite meanings.  But the second sentence makes clear what the SAP wants you to believe.  This is why treaties are not written in English.  English is a bastard imprecise language.  Treaties will be translated into English but most are in French or another more precise languages for enforcement purposes.

No my friends under the new rules people will not longer automatically qualified for SNAP because they receive TANF for example.  If they have assets they will not get food stamps.  It is the opposite of what the SAP says.

AND THEN THE SAP AGREES WITH MONTOYA ON THE FLOODING TO KEEP HIS ATTACK GOING ON THE NEW CITY COMMISSION

First he attacks Montoya for not contacting Mayor Mendez to get the full story and then he agrees with Montoya without explaining any of the long process fixing the flooding problem requires.

UTEP TOP TIER IN RESEARCH

Many parents are working now considering where to send their children next year.  If you do not consider UTEP you are cheating your child.  UT cannot provide a better education.  All of the Ivy League schools recruit from UTEP for graduate programs.

NEW HEMP LAW RESULTS IN TEXAS DA'S DROPPING THOUSANDS OF MARIJUANA CASES, AS THE NUMBER OF PARTICIPATING COUNTIES GROW

"EL PASO, Texas - Texas Republican leaders are urging state district and county attorneys to continue enforcing marijuana laws, a move that follows big city prosecutors’ decision to drop pot possession cases amid confusion surrounding a new law legalizing hemp."

"The prosecutors' reasoning: The Legislature and Abbott redefined marijuana when they legalized hemp earlier this year — and a lack of testing resources to distinguish between the two casts too much reasonable doubt over criminal proceedings."

"Even Republican district attorneys in large counties are dropping hundreds of cases and not pursuing new low-level marijuana charges because current crime lab equipment can’t distinguish between hemp and marijuana."

" Now, the definition only pertains to cannabis that contains more than 0.3% of THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana that produces a high. Anything less is hemp.

Most crime labs in Texas, including the 13 run by the Texas Department of Public Safety, can’t measure the quantity of THC, making law enforcement unable to distinguish between hemp and marijuana, especially when it comes to things like gummies and oils."
The DA's who will continue to prosecute will do it on circumstantial evidence since the lab work is either too costly or cannot be done.  You see the Republicans forced the issue of testing of hemp plants before it can be grown and now what we have is an unintended consequence.

SAM OUR NEW RESCUE I WAS TRICKED INTO

I've known Sam for about a month.  He really needed a better home than he had.  He was loved, and cared for, but was always outside.

Today he learned outside and tinkle.  He will be an easy train.  When I get back from San Antonio, it will be off to the vet. For reasons I will not explain I know he is under 6 months.  He is super smart and listens.

I think had been consulted before he was brought into the house I may have said no not now.  But once brought into the house I was so in love with him, I had to say yes.

LOOKING FOR A SOLUTION TO THE TENASKA BPUB MONEY

There is no issue the new city commission is going to handle this problem.  The question is what can legally be done.

ANOTHER IDEA

If the money has to be used for utilites the city commission might consider  an income based grant program to provide money for energy efficiency,   Using the money to help cut bills by at least  a 3rd gets a good use of the money while also lowing the fees the consumer pays.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM MAYOR TREY MENDEZ ON TODAY'S PODCAST

Simply put, generalities.   I am writing this piece because I can hear it now from the trolls, see everything is going to stay the same.  Well no it is not.  With this new city commission you do not have the type people who just act and then worry about the consequences later.

The mayor and city commissioners are slowly going through the process to gather the necessary information and in some cases evidence before they act.

Yes, GBIC is a big deal.  Things will change.  But it takes time. Both of the new GBIC Board Members are successful businessmen, and well regarded.  They will help the city commission get to the truth.

Tenaska is on the table and the rate increases.  But so too is reality.  If you lower the BPUB's revenues, you lower how much they give the city, which in turns means less revenue for the city, or higher taxes.  There will need to be a balancing act.  But they will get there.  They cannot just act on the Tenaska money without insuring they are acting fully within the law, and the terms of the contract with Tenaska.

While there may be some specifics, I think mostly what people will hear today is things are being worked on.  The city commission has a good relationship with the new city manager.  Finally time is needed to make changes.

The agenda for the next city commission meeting is being constructed.  That is when we will see the evidence of the first changes

If you want to see evidence of real change, look at the education requirements the city is imposing on the top jobs.  Everything is a step at a time.  Imagine an engineer for Public Works

EDITOR'S NOTE:

This page clearly lists people I oppose.  That is not my standard.  Newspapers demand proof to support their political ads before they will accept them.  Face Book is literally right now before the House defending its policy of not fact checking bought and paid for ads.

The BV has never refused to list a candidate.  I may be slow in getting to everyone, but the BV has never denied a candidate a free spot.  But the BV has stated it would if a candidate ran unethical ads.

Sheriff Lucio's opponent on his FB page is running an incredibly unethical ad.  It is demeaning to the voters, senior citizens and tells me he is a man of extremely low character.  Hence based on the BV's previously stated policy the candidate will not appear in this free service.
