Guys still down.  My neurosurgeon wants me to finish the 6 days of steroids before a CT scan.  It is painful.  When I sneeze it feels like my head is going to explode.  I do not see myself at the computer tomorrow.

But I want to say, I am disgusted by this election.  It has been beyond nasty.  Brownsville has nothing to be proud of.

BUT I STILL FEEL THESE ARE YOUR BEST CANDIDATES

2019 has surpassed 2015 with one day left

If a story breaks Tuesday I may not be able to cover it.  By mid morning the cerebral swelling had me in tears and the surgeon had to put me on a mega dosage of steroids.  If by noon tomorrow things are still real bad, I go for an emergency CT scan and the San Antonio surgeon decides if it can be handled here  or San Antonio,  My abdomen is very rigid and also needs a CT scan.  No amount of pain killer is going to help.

CHARLIE ATKINSON SHOWS INCREDIBLE IGNORANCE IN HIS DISMISSIVE ATTITUDE TOWARDS THE NURITH GALONSKY TRAGEDY

"Charlie Atkinson I agree with most of what you say. Unfortunately ignorance runs a muck around here. I was just sharing my experience. I had posters that had a natzi symbols on them when I was campaigning. If it were kids then they don’t know better. They are just ignorant. It’s no excuse but I don’t think it was malicious. I would never have thought she was Jewish. I have had breakfast with her dad many times and I thought he was a Latino. He spoke Spanish mostly when I was around him.."

Guys I realize my background is a bit different.  I was raised in a multicultural home, travelled the world and had friends from all walks of lives.  I know enough that today in a good and bad way, many people under 30 do not know the difference between Mexican food and Italian food.  They just know it as food.  I have learned trying to teach the significance of cultural exchange is a real challenge.  When one student cannot name one Italian dish it is good that we are so mixed, but it is bad because we are unaware of our history.  Good luck trying to explain to young people today that without pasta from either China or the Middle East [actually being debated] and tomatoes  from the Americas, a lot of Italian dishes would not exist.  My point is I get we are arriving to the point that people do not know the basics in terms of our differences.

But now that Nurith has made her faith known, it is sickening to try and make excuses for the evil which acted against her.  It is a good thing for Charlie Cabler there is no proof that Atkinson is nothing more than a stupid supporter of Cabler, otherwise Atkinson's words could do real harm.  Let's see if Cabler denounces him.  Do not hold your breath.

BUT REALLY?  A COLLEGE EDUCATED CHARLIE ATKINSON THOUGHT GALONSKY IS A LATINO NAME

He is way old enough to know better.  This man is so ignorant it comes to him as a surprise Jews speak Spanish.  News flash Charlie, Christopher Columbus was a converso, meaning he was Jewish.  They were also known as Marranos.  This history of Spanish speaking Jews is long.

My ex's family which among the older people of Brownsville are still well known  for Marks Interiors, were Jews who first arrived in New Orleans to eventually all end up in Brownsville.  Their Spanish is impeccable, and they eventually became devout Catholics or Evangelicals.

According to Charlie Atkinson's logic, based only on my fathers name - Wightman - , I am Russian because I speak Russian, and I am Latino because I speak Spanish.

I want to be clear, when dealing with this type hate, there is no room for making excuses that it was not anti-Jewish. To protect against this hate, this is the only acceptable narrative.  Also I want to apologize toTemple Beth-El of Brownsville, TX, for not demanding the BPD provide them 24/7 police protection at this time, until this is worked out and we can know it was an isolated incident.  But my dear friends, it was not.

AS BY-STANDER CITIZENS WE ARE EMPOWERING THIS HATE AND WE THE PEOPLE NEED TO TAKE THE LEAD, BECAUSE WE CANNOT COUNT ON LAW ENFORCEMENT TO PROTECT US SO LONG AS WE ARE NOT THE LOUDEST VOICES ON THIS ISSUE

HEY CHARLIE, YOU WANT TO KNOW WHERE THE NAME NURITH COMES FROM?  IT IS HEBREW FOR A BEAUTIFUL FLOWER

Sunday, April 28, 2019

ALTHOUGH WHEN THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHERS NURITH GALONSKY HAS BEEN SILENT, I SAY ANYTHING LESS THAN 24/7 POLICE PROTECTION FOR HER AND HER PARENTS WOULD BE A FAILURE ON CHIEF SAUCEDO'S PART

Nurith Galonsky is the consummate by-stander citizen.  She remains silent at Jerry McHale's homophobia and bullying.  Nurith Galonsky's by-stander citizen mentality is what brought this upon her and her family.  I will call a spade a spade.

But this is beyond serious.  The Galonsky family needs now, 24/7 police protection.  Nurith should have a police officer with her at all times until the election is over, and if she wins for several months after the election. Chief Saucedo must send a strong message of zero tolerance for this bigotry and potentially deadly hate.

The BV has been very consistent about these matters.  The difference is I do not wait until it happens to me to speak out.  And while I demand 24/7 protection for Nurith and her family, I ask people to remember her silence when Jerry spreads his hate and bigotry.  Her own ignorance and bigotry does not justify this.  Even though she will not stand with us, we the good people of Brownsville will stand with her and her family.

I can assure you Nurith will say not a word about Jerry McHale's homophobia or bullying which brings this same unacceptable hate towards those he targets.  But Nurith's narcissism will not stop me from demanding Chief Saucedo give her family and her 24/7 police protection.

The FBI needs in now.  There can be no mercy for those who did this.  The FBI needs a strong presence in Brownsville now so as to send a very strong message our Jewish brothers and sisters will be protected and those who target them will receive no mercy and the maximum punishment.

The TV stations need to get this on the AP wire to force an immediate FBI presence.  The Herald has to put the story on the AP wire.

I grew up with so many Jewish friends who parents or grand parents had tattoos from the Nazi's  My cousin's mother in laws parents fled the Russian pogroms and I know the stories.

THIS CANNOT BE TOLERATED IN BROWNSVILLE CHIEF SAUCEDO AND THE GALONSKY'S NEED 24/7 PROTECTION NOW.

HOW CHARLIE CABLER AND SANTANA TORRES THROUGH MISMANAGEMENT AND LACK OF PROPER PLANNING EXACERBATED THE ILLEGAL DUMPING PROBLEM AFTER DOLLY

From the BV 2008 - Only the BV has been covering the Santana Torres issue since at least 2008. Good things are coming. I am feeling good about the new City Manager and Police Chief. Now all we need to do its get Trey Mendez, Ismael Hinojosa, and Pat Ahumada on the City Commission and competency will become he new word in hiring at the COB.

 MONDAY, JULY 28, 2008

CHARLIE CABLER AND SANTANA TORRES ARE FAILING THE CITY DURING THE POST DOLLY CLEANUP -

Some things are out of the control of Cabler and Santana. For example my trash pickup which is normally on Saturday occurred on Sunday. There is a lot of trash. The city can only do so much. Along these lines, on Saturday I took three truck loads of palm branches to the landfill. The more of us who take our own brush to the landfill the faster Public Works can get the city clean. At some point we the people need to help with the process instead of getting in the way. This is where Cabler and Torres failed the city. I notice people were dumping their brush along Robindale and Old Port Isabel road. I am thinking all they have to do is shoot down 802 to the landfill, what is the problem? The problem is, City Manager Cabler and Public Works Director Torres decided it is better that the people in the county dump their brush on city or county roads or in drainage ditches than waive the fee to dump their brush in the city land fill. I can hear it now, "they are not part of the city so why should they be permitted to dump their brush for free?" Fine, now the city will pay BFI to collect all of this extra brush illegally dumped on the side of the road and in the drainage ditches. It is only your tax dollars being wasted. Are you happy now? Further the county is going to have to pay to have the brush illegally dumped on the side of roads in the county. Cabler and Torres have failed to create a policy for efficient pick-up of bulk trash within the city before hurricanes. In real cities wherein you have a city manager with a Masters in Public Administration and a director over Public Works who is more than a high school graduate the policy is, everyone is given a week of the month when their bulk trash will be picked up. You are allowed to put your bulk trash out 3 days early. This way the bulk trash in never out more than a total of 10 days, and in most cases no more than 6 days.

PAT'S CAMPAIGN FLOODING SOCIAL MEDIA WITH LATEST AD

UPDATE:  I am getting texts that people are disgusted with what Jessica did to these people.  Help get Pat into the run-offs and then victory by copying the following and posting it to your FB page and ask all your friends and family to do the same.  This should be a lead story on all three news stations.  The statements were captured from Jessica's FB so she cannot deny them.  If we do not stand up for the disabled who will.  Demand the news stations take the story.

http://brownsvillevoice.blogspot.com/2019/04/pats-campaign-flooding-social-media.html

Also the following is from my blog.  Top left you can search guardian and find it.  What Jessica did could have cost the city millions.  The former police chief should have gone to jail for giving her the pictures.  Guardianship homes are run by the courts and the guardians are appointed to manage all funds and the person.  They do an annual accounting to the court.  The first two parts are Jessica admitting to her abusing these people, and then a neighbor verifying the police found not basis to Jessica's claims.  Pat needs to get this out there.  You see Jessica only wants her fake material world as neighbors and not the disabled.

Jessica Tetreau- Kalifa from Cowan Terrace4 May

That's really sad. These people relinquish all social security and food stamps to live thereI have photos of 4-5 beds in one room aloneThe residents were not aware they were sharing a room with a sex offender.

The couple that runs it started blaming the home in front of them for all of their problems but the city assured them it was a multitude of people who have a problem with this happening."

Jessica has an incredible penchant for ignorance.  Mentally ill people assigned a guardian are typically given a guardian who controls all of their benefits and money.  The guardian must file an accounting with the probate court every year.  Jessica whines like a baby about how Montoya just makes things up, but she does the same to make her point and push her lies and deception.

The above is a civil rights violation.  i am asking for both federal and state criminal and civil violations investigations against Jessica and the police chief.  Mentally ill people have rights and the city and Jessica clearly violated their rights by giving Jessica the pictures of inside the home.

For the record I went to go see the home today - the front is spotless and beautifully maintained. Jessica's front yard looked like a garbage dump with the very large Trevino sign just thrown down on her lawn and Art washing his own truck.  I guess Art does not trust his car wash workers to wash his truck.  To get to the house on E Cowan I had no choice but to pass Jessica's home.  I am not posting the pictures because i consider them a security issue for both Jessica and her family and the mentally ill residents.

Jessica is not happy that someone challenged her claims and continues with the social media lynching of these mentally ill residents who live around the block from her.

Jessica Tetreau- Kalifa from Cowan Terrace6 May

The city is working quickly to shut the home down and this point the state is also involved.

From the neighbor:

"I hope so! The officers said they were in compliance, but I'm sure they don't know the whole story. Thanks Jessica!."

I spoke with the person claiming the police have said there are no legal violations, and she was very irritated that I communicated with her.  Well sorry lady, just be happy I am not publishing your name. Well changed my mind - see below.  I will take mentally ill neighbors any day over fake Christians and Catholics who attack mentally ill people based on no information and seek to chase them from our community.  You and Jessica need to move lady, and we will keep the mentally ill neighbors.

Jessica is a phony Catholic who has attacked the church when she does not get her way and is now attacking the mentally ill because she does not like them.  There is nothing, and I mean nothing Catholic about Jessica Tetreau Kalifa.  She knows nothing about the pain of a parent caring for a mentally ill child who because of their mental illness have improperly touched a child.  It is not okay, but people who have faith have compassion and try and work with these families instead of attacking them.

I for one want to welcome these mentally ill people to our community and find out how I can help them.  I will begin on Monday by asking for an investigation against the city for harassment for turning over the photos of their private rooms to Jessica.

From one of the mob squad "
Jan Saldivar from Cowan Terrace4 May

How do we give THEM problems? Because we look out for our neighborhood? PLEASE..."

You are giving them problems by making accusations based on no information or how guardianships work simply because they are mentally ill.  They have every right to live there.  If you do not want mentally ill neighbors move to a Nazi Germany country where they just gas them and then throw them in ovens.  They have rights.  And you madam [and I use the term loosely] have no right to deny mentally ill people the right to live where they choose..

You yourself said the police  told you everything was legal, so why do your persist you narrow minded bigot?  Okay so I gave out your name - people need to know the type bigots in our mist.

TEXAS SETTLES VOTER PURGING LAWSUIT WITH LULAC

Secretary Whitley Announces Settlement In Litigation On Voter Registration List Maintenance Activity

Plaintiffs agree to dismiss all claims against the Texas Secretary of State

AUSTIN, TX – Today, the parties to LULAC v. Whitley (and consolidated cases) agreed to a settlement in the litigation regarding the Texas Secretary of State's voter registration list maintenance activity announced on January 25, 2019 to identify and remove non-U.S. citizens registered to vote in Texas. All parties agreed to a mutually acceptable process by which the Texas Secretary of State's office can continue to conduct voter registration list maintenance required under both state and federal law while eliminating the impact of any list maintenance on eligible Texas voters. The plaintiffs agreed to dismiss all of their claims and the Texas Secretary of State's office agreed to issue a new advisory notifying Texas counties on the revised process for identifying and removing non-U.S. citizens from the state's voter rolls.
Secretary Whitley issued the following statement regarding the settlement agreement:
"I want to thank the Texas Legislature, county election officials from across the state, and the parties in this litigation for working with our office to develop a sustainable non-citizen list maintenance process. From the beginning, this process was designed to be collaborative, and today's agreement reflects a constructive collaboration among all stakeholders. It is of paramount importance that Texas voters can have confidence in the integrity, accuracy, and efficiency of the electoral system in which they participate. Today's agreement accomplishes our office's goal of maintaining an accurate list of qualified registered voters while eliminating the impact of any list maintenance activity on naturalized U.S. citizens. I will continue to work with all stakeholders in the election community to ensure this process is conducted in a manner that holds my office accountable and protects the voting rights of eligible Texans."
As part of the settlement, the parties agreed to a revised list maintenance process for the Texas Secretary of State's office to utilize in matching Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) data regarding potential non-U.S. citizens with Texas' voter registration database. The parties agreed that, going forward, the Texas Secretary of State's office will send to county voter registrars only the matching records of individuals who registered to vote before identifying themselves as non-U.S. citizens to DPS when applying for a driver license or personal identification card. This will ensure that naturalized U.S. citizens who lawfully registered to vote are not impacted by this voter registration list maintenance process.

MONTOYA AND MCHALE GO ON FICTION FRENZY TO SATISFY THOSE PAYING THEM TO DESTROY BROWNSVILLE, AND EVERY INNOCENT PERSON TRYING TO MAKE BROWNSVILLE A BETTER PLACE

The other day I reported how I called the police to file a complaint on an officer.  I identified their car by number.  I praised the new police chief at every turn and indicated my complete confidence in him.  I hold by my words and even more so am I confident we finally have a police chief who will clean house.  I think, I am pretty close to saying the same about the new city manager.  More on these issues Monday.

McHale attacked me with his classic frenzy lying about what I said about the police incident at my home.  For the record, all is calm and the problem is permanently fixed.  The Chief did his job, and a message was sent to all officers, even small infractions by the police officers will be handled.

MONTOYA AND MCHALE CALL IT A POLICE STATE IF THE POLICE RESPOND TO A COMPLAINT

I fully support a criminal investigation against Montoya and Mchale for inciting a social media frenzy calling into question the integrity of our elections, all in exchange for chump change.

Remi Garza is an amazing Elections Administrator.  McHale does one of his bought and paid for attacks on Remi Garza because I am not blocked from looking at election archives, which by the way are public record.  Cameron County and the people are very fortunate to have Remi Garza as the first line of defense for our democracy.  McHale can attack with all of his lies and Remi will not fold.  Remi will hold on keeping our elections fair.  Maybe it is that state investigation involving McHale and Cowan which has McHale so mad.  To the best of my knowledge Remi is not even involved in it.

THE FAKE LIBRARY STORY

This election is very, very dirty.  You have Mike Hernandez and Abraham Galonsky waging one of the worse unethical dirty campaigns imaginable. But to be honest, and you can see it in my reporting, Galonsky has taken filth to a new low.  He has gone so low, the BV not has not really covered Mikes' candidates that much, the BV before anyone else called Jessica Tetreau-Kalifa, an Hernandez puppet the winner before anyone even announced for the position.  Pat Ahumada is moving up, but we need to see if it is too late.  Pat could win a runoff with Jessica if he can raise the money to get the message out there.

At the end I will repeat who I voted for and why because Trey, Ismael, and Pat, have run honorable and very professional campaigns.  They have also hit the issues unlike the  other candidates.

Other than claims of wrongdoing, Valley Central and Remi Garza could not identify one specific complaint or any actual act of wrong doing.  Montoya and McHale want to the police to not respond when called with complaints.

WHAT TRUTH IS MCHALE AND MONTOYA TRYING TO HIDE BY TRASHING OUR NEW POLICE CHIEF AND POLICE FOR DOING THEIR JOB AND RESPONDING TO A 911 CALL AND INVESTIGATING?

Remi Garza on Valley Central did an excellent job in explaining the law about promising food in exchange for voting a certain way.  But Remi, Valley Central nor the police could identify any candidate engaging in such conduct.  It is normal, although I hate it, that the campaigns give away food near the polls. This by itself is normal.

What really happened is these first campaigns under the care of Galonsky, mostly, and Hernandez needlessly got the police involved to create a false image.  The police had no choice but to respond.  Had the campaign workers not called the police with bogus complaints, no voter would have seen the police.

Neither McHale nor Montoya could name one voter who felt intimidated by  the police investigating the complaints.

The dirty campaigns under the tutelage of Galonsky and Hernandez created the mess.  There is no proof either Galonsky or Hernandez encouraged this terrible conduct by the campaign workers.

GUYS THERE ARE GOOD CANDIDATES AND THERE ARE GOOD THINGS HAPPENING.  YOU WILL LIKE MONDAY'S STORY BECAUSE IT SHOWS WE ARE GOING TO CLEAN HOUSE AT THE CITY - BUT YOU HAVE TO VOTE FOR THE RIGHT CANDIDATES.

HOW I VOTED AND WHY?

I am looking for balance.  Trey is the only mayoral candidate not tied to the Hernandez or Galonsky machine.  The fourth vote has to be independent.  Trey will do an A+ job on downtown and small business development with equal opportunity for everyone - no special favors.  That downtown tax money will then be available for other projects in Brownsville.

For at Large Ismael Hinojosa was closest to the people and the real deal not looking to make money with conflicts of interests.  He was an easy choice for me.  In this election the candidates across the board seemed to have very little understanding of the cause of the problems  the people face.  This was the part of the election which frustrated me the most.  I really believe Ismael will do the best job at looking at these problems and finding real solutions and not just promises.  Same for Pat.

Pat Ahumada for District 2 where I live was an easy choice.  Those angry with him over taking Galonsky's money, I get it and respect your anger.  But you have to pick your poison.  Pat is a great policy wonk and will be able to help Trey on some of the bigger policy issues.  Will they be a team?  No.  But if Pat presents the issue and how to address it properly Trey will be all ears.  Trey will be open to Pat's knowledge of grants and bringing entities together.  This does not mean they will always agree on policy.

SANTANA TORRES, COB DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS AND THE STORY MONTOYA COULD NEVER PRINT BECAUSE HE LACKS THE SKILLS TO INVESTIGATE

For years and in particular during this election only the BV has covered the story of Santana Torres.  Charlie Cabler hired him as one of his friends, although he was not qualified for the job.  A blind eye was turned as Torres allowed a landfill worker to work on Charlie Cabler's Mustang on city time.

You think the money Mike Hernandez is throwing Cable rs way is why Montoya is not telling you this.  And this is how we got to today.

My firm source told me Santana Torres was given until today to work out a solution with the city.  It could range from retirement, discharge, demotion, or reorganization of the department.  I suspect after today Torres will no longer be an employee of the city.  But to avoid a lawsuit they may offer him a demotion with the same pay.

No social media has pushed this story harder in the past and during this election cycle than the BV, and here comes Montoya and falsely announces Santana is out. Where has he mentioned Torres in the past?  The stories have been about potholes, with no identification of the problem or a solution.  You only read this on the BV.  Well we will not know until today for sure.  There is dirty politics in play and  that can change everything.

NURITH GALONSKY

I took all of my information to her and she made clear she had no interest in the issue.  An issue which social media clearly showed the people cared about a lot.  When I tried to give her the history on Santana Torres she was clear, she had no interest in replacing people who are not qualified.  Well according to the people these are key issues.  One can only think she intends to use the same good old boy system to ignore the incompetence of so many city Department Directors to insure the "right" people get the jobs.

SO WHAT REALLY HAPPENED

The BV has unprecedented access to county, city and BISD officials.  They all know I will strive to get to the entire story.

Torres is not being threatened with discharge because anyone cares about public works, but so that Tony Martinez can make it an issue and then put the mess on Charlie Cabler.  Now, Tony is correct about Santana Torres.  But Tony saw the BV's coverage as a political opportunity.

But Tony Martinez is dead wrong to only care about this issue which so impacts the people when he can use it in a political race to hurt his opponent.  And that my friends is where Santana Torres is at, at this point.  He may have a great lawsuit had this been handled based on the endless complaints long ago instead as a political move to win an election.  I hope he sues and wins.  People's lives should not be thrown on trash heaps to help people win elections.

On his qualifications and endless complaints while no election was ongoing Santana Torres should have been offered a demotion.

WHAT I WANT TO HAPPEN

There are a lot of veterans who oversaw Public Works at major military installation all over the world and U.S. who are perfect for this job.  All Director positions need to be done on a national search so we can bring in the best and really Move the City Forward.

TREY CONTINUES TO LEAD WITH DIRECT MAILERS

I am convinced you have a better chance of getting people to read a direct mailer than listening to someone on the phone while you are watching TV.  Trey's campaign has been the cleanest of the three.

This is a no brainier.  Trey will lead Brownsville into a success story.

More tomorrow on Cabler if I can confirm the claim.

EARLY VOTING DUE TO SURPASS 2015

It still cannot be denied the turn out is dismal.  Guys my writing mistakes are not going to get better soon.  The recovery from brain surgery is not overnight.  Also I forgot I was not suppose to do caffeine.  Caffeine increased production of brain fluid.  Two days of a lot of ice tea on the island totally destroyed my vision again.  But the trolls will attack because they never learned how to be helpful, productive, engage in critical thinking, or show empathy.  BTW, on balance I am doing well.

EARLY VOTING DAY THREE - DISMISSAL

For a mayoral election this is not good news since about 60-65% of the vote will be early voting.  With the numbers being this low I would submit we have a more deliberate voter versus a lot of blind female voters.  This could impact the final results.

At this point I would submit those voting are voting with specific intent for a particular candidate.  This means the voters the candidates are getting to the polls.

Sorry for so little blogging,.  Computer time is very, very limited with the blurred vision.

NAT PEREZ BEYOND A DOUBT THE BEST CRIMINAL DEFENSE LAWYER IN CAMERON COUNTY, AND DOING MORE THAN ANYONE ELSE TO HOLD THE DA AND POLICE AT BAY

If I am ever charged with a crime there is no question in my mind I will hire Nat Perez.  He is a very rare breed keeping the police and DA at bay while holding to the Constitution.

The claims in this case put into serious question whether or not the BPD and DA can be trusted with evidence.

Click

And before I hear it, Nat does not need to advertise.  His reputation speaks for itself.  I tell everyone who can afford him to call Nat.  Nat is where you go to make sure you have an attorney who takes the constitution seriously.  He always makes me proud of the legal profession.

SEXY AND COOL

EARLY VOTING DAY 2 HEADING STEADY BUT LOW

A REPEAT BECAUSE I MET MR. OWEN THIS MORNING WHILE VOTING

Owen roofing has been getting a free ad for years, and will always get a free ad.  He was key in helping me choose this house when for free he came out and assessed the roof.  When the time came he got the business.

A little something.  When  they deliver the shingles they lift them to roof height so all the workers have to do is take them off the pallet at roof height.  Every couple of months a new roof goes on in my neighborhood.  A lot of them are done by Owen.  But the ones which are not do not make for happy roofers.

Think for a second.  You are the guy who is going to put on the roof.  When you start is your mood going to be better after spending hours carrying the shingles on your shoulder to the roof up a ladder, or taking the shingles off of pallets which have been raised to the height of the roof?  His workers appreciate these little things.  They also put tarp around the house to catch the shingles and then roll it up and dump it in the dumpster.  You get what you pay for and with Owen you get the best.

SO WHY REPOST?

Well this morning he was second in line with me to vote.  He was telling me he gets business from the ad and that even sometimes people who hire him ask him how he got hook up with me.  It made me feel good because it told me smart people who may not like my writings, still make the right business decision and goes with Owen Roofing. To those readers thanks for being so open minded
and putting smart business decisions first.

SO BASED ON THE ABOVE - MY PROPOSITION ON ADS

I have been approach with ads.  We are talking. For now I am the problem because I like these people and do not want to hurt their business.  We are working out the specifics.  We shall see.  If I can get the ads the BV will be better.  I admit I need to rethink how I approach some stories.

MY HEALTH

The staples are out - I had it done in SA yesterday.  In a month I go back and he adjusts  the fluid flow away from the brain and then I go only once a year.

I am iffy on my vision and can only work on the computer for an hour before the vision goes and the headache becomes unbearable.  The neuropathy is 100% gone.  I am off three medicines for good.  Happy as can be,

ORIGINAL POST

THE BV WILL CONSIDER TAKING ADS FROM LAWYERS AND THEN MAYBE OTHER BUSINESSES

Here is the deal - the fee is $250 a month for an ad you submit.  It cannot be demeaning to the profession.  Brownsville has a lot of good lawyers.  They will be permanently placed on the right side.  First come first served.

The problem, I do not doubt one bit Saenz and several judges will retaliate against any lawyer who takes out an ad with the BV.  This is why I am feeling this experiment may not get off the ground.

As a lawyer, if you run for office, the ad will have to stop.  I will be in a no win situation.  If I cover the election honestly it may mean going after my advertiser - so be it.  But if I reject all of the troll garbage and lies then I will be accused of being bought. I have been very strong in my opposition to Cabler, but yet I have rejected a ton of anti-Cabler troll comments.  Hence no ads for lawyers who run for public office.  I may eventually try it.  If I do there will be no third party payments.

From my perspective I think I can actually help the candidates, even those opposing each other, if they are running ads because they will keep an open door with me and I can give them my honest opinion about matters.  By allowing me to challenge them while they run ads, tells the voters they are transparent and open to discussion.  Not a bad thing for the record.

It is no great secret, Cata, Pat, and Ben and I have all had our battles but in each case in this election because Brownsville comes first, I have put aside our differences.

OTHER RULES

Upon payment of the first Ad I will set up a DBA with the city and notify the tax office to access the property taxes on the business.  It will be public record what I pay.  My roll top desk is about 17 years old, my computer is about maybe 8 years old, and my printer is brand new.

The money will help fund my work.  Financially I am getting back on my feet.  I just got a project which will pay all May bills.  I lost a lot of work time this year.  Thank god for gay divorces.  They are really no different than any other divorce but the lawyers do not see it, so they are paying me to handle everything.  There is absolutely no difference between a gay and straight divorce.  The issues which can come up are identical.   I know a troll who knows nothing about the reality of straight divorces will claim differences, but there are none.

If just one lawyer takes an ad, I think it will expand.  I will not cover their cases unless it is a high profile case and they will be treated just like opposing counsel.

The obstacle is  Saenz and certain judges will retaliate against any lawyer who takes out an ad from me.  Also I will have to rethink how I approach judicial corruption.   It needs to be addressed but me rethinking how I approach it may be good for the BV and my writing.

By the way no amount of hydrocodone will kill the headaches or address the pain in my eyes.  But the neuropathy is gone, although I have leg pain.  On balance I feel alive and healthy in ways I have not felt in years.

Email if you want to take an ad, and we will work it out.  You cannot control my content, but I know reality means I will have to change how I cover judicial corruption.  I will still cover it, but just with a lighter finger.

And for the record guys I know this is a long shot.  But I also know when you take valid ads, it changes your editorial approach and I accept that, with the exception of no sacred cows.

SIDE NOTE:

No one who is currently getting free ads has ever asked I take it down.  They are making money and the few ads actually provide important information to the community.

An inherent problem I have thought about a lot is refusing complaints about someone who takes an ad with the BV.  Okay a furniture store takes out an ad.  Then comes the complaints by the consumer they were cheated.  They may have been cheated.  But the BV has no desire to do an investigation of such claims.  If you send me a complaint against a furniture store now I will tell you not interested.  But if I carry their ad, then I am running cover for them when in fact I am not because even without the ad I would have said not interested.

The local TV news like those stories so there is a venue for the consumer to be heard,
