WHY FOR STRATEGIC REASONS I WAS FORCED TO VOTE FOR RENE OLIVEIRA

My view of both candidates remains the same.  Neither are qualified.  But we need a qualified person representing our district and that is the strategic reason for me voting for Rene.

It is understood this will be Rene's last term if he wins.  This means in two years we will have an open seat.  We have about a year to find a qualified person to run for what will be an open seat.  An open seat will mean more qualified people running.

What we do not want in two years is an unqualified Alex Dominguez running as an incumbent.  Strategically we need this to be an open seat in two years.

My vote was purely strategic and by no means an endorsement of Rene Oliveira.

In this case, it's not about experience, but his addiction to alcohol that may claim his life or someone else's. Through the courts, he could be placed in treatment, which he needs. I'm addressing just one of his major problems.

You comment is valid but lost her because you do not seem to care about the danger Montoya and Silva are to the public. ALso as is always the case with the trolls - you ignored the point. I said neither were qualified. My view was simple - I want an open seat in two years so better candidates will run.

You cannot argue against that so you ignore Montoya's and Zeke's problems and only focus on Oliveira's problem.

I'm addressing your strategic reason for choosing Olivera and not the candidates, your personal choice only.

Your strategic reasons are reactive strategies. Since you have the means, I would recommend proactive strategies.

Proactive strategies would have a 3rd candidate, the so-called qualified candidate, during regular elections.

It is too late for anyone to get on the ballot for November. The proactive thing at this point is to work on encouraging someone who understands Austin and our community to start building support now for the next primaries when the seat is open.

Some people believe they need to be elected to work on legislation in Austin. I know better because I already work on legislation. The point is to make things better. The ills of the LRGV go well beyond one person. That story begins soon. The fundemental ills of the LRGV are not solvable because our elected officials have no interest in the fundamental problems.

Rene don't have that amount of time or money to last, he should have resigned and retired when he had the chance. Now he must face the coming onslaught with all the protection falling away. You can also jump ship or get sucked up with the garbage.

Rene taking a bigger fall now than he did last night would be good for all of Texas. Alex Dominguez has zero knowledge of how the system works or he did not tell the truth because he intends to do the same thing. Rene was a paid lobbyist for the insurance companies by and through the PAC donations. This is illegal and a major flaw in the law. All Dominguez had to do was match up Rene's legislation with the PAC money and he could have made an argument which would have resonated with the people. It could have brought meaningful change. I planned on the post but then he paid Montoya, such as today, to attack me with lies so I did not give him the argument.
