IT IS TIME TO THINK ABOUT CHARITY

Alternativetgifts.org is a great organization I have been dealing with for years.  Other then helping people for free as a kind of social worker all year long, in December I choose a need listed here, and give to the UTEP scholarship fund.  This year I have chosen reforestation in Haiti.  It is a long term process, but in time will bring Haiti out of poverty.  You do not have to choose this charity,  find any charity.  You would be amazed what $50.00 can do for a community.  Click for my choice this year

I use to choose projects in Nicaragua but several years ago Nicaragua was taken off of the list. I suspect it was politics, knowing everything I know about what is actually happening on the ground in Nicaragua.

Just so you know, you can not call yourself a social worker in Texas unless you are licensed as a social worker. I know you only called yourself "a kind of social worker" but heads up on this. By the way, is patting yourself on the back via social media as "kind of a social worker" anything like Jessica patting herself on the back for giving away burgers? In principle it seems about the same.

First of all I do not charge for services. I made it clear kind of. Last the theme was to encourage my readers to engage in charity. I recommended a charity.

How am I different from Jessica, I am not running for office or hold office, so encouraging people to engage in charity gets me nothing in terms of votes, or positive press.

How horrible for me to encourage people to engage in charity. I should be shot as a communist.

By the way, in the last ten weeks I have been responsible for just over $800.00 in charitable donations and nobody knows about it but you, me and the non-profit that got the gift.

Since i have no idea how you are and know of no one who has given such gifts I am not one of the people in the know. But I do know people all over Brownsville are giving, and good for them.

the point of my post was for people who can afford to give money, consider finding a good charity or give to the scholarship fund at a university or college.

If you do not have money, consider helping someone by driving them to the store once a week so they do not have to take the bus. There is so much we can do to help one another.

Every year CNN does a person of the year award based on nominations. Every year I nominate the unsung heroes who do charity work. Together they do a lot and need to be recognized not as individuals, but as part of the charity we as a nation seem to be willing to give.
