TO TSC AND BISD, STOP THE PROGRAM METHOD OF TEACHING AND RETURN TO CLASSICAL TEACHING WHICH CREATED ALL OF THE GREAT MINDS OF THE LAST TWO CENTURIES

After my first semester teaching Government at Houston Community college, my boss called me in and said I gave out too many "A.s".  He was shocked when I handed him 75 Blue Books with a comprehensive final essay exam with two questions.  He just assumed I gave multiple choice finals which could be scanned and graded right away.  I even had a score for how many points were given for each correct part of the answer.  There was no random grading which we all too often see in essay examines by lazy professors.

I said to him tell me who should not get an A and I will change the grade.  A few days later he called me in to get the Blue Books.  He said he read half of them and decided he had instructors who could not pass my exam.  He asked how did I grade so many exams while also studying for my own law school exams?  It was easy.  It was my job.

I taught using the classical method while identifying students who needed extra help.  I taught.  I did not lecture.  I did not tell endless war stories, I did not judge.  I instilled confidence in my students they could learn how to write A essay exams. Many are now lawyers, doctors, engineers.

Over the years many have found me on the internet to tell me, I did more to prepare them for college and in teaching critical thinking than any of their other professors or instructors.  It was simple.  My job was to teach and not grade or judge.

I love working with GED students.  BISD's program is a complete disaster.  If I had the money I would open my own school and prove you can take special needs children and help them get their GED with very little effort.
