WHEN WILL CONGRESSMAN VELA STAND ON THE HOUSE FLOOR AND HUMILIATE HIS PEERS INTO FUNDING OUR VA SYSTEM?

The entire thing is a joke beyond comprehension.  I have four specialist confirming the diaphragm spasms and related respiratory problems which are getting worse by the day. Funding for outside specialists has come to a standstill.  Millions are owed so some doctors are now refusing to see veterans.  The VA like any other government agency has pots of money.  So they turned to a program called Vets Choice which is really to only be used when regular vouchers are not an option for any number of reasons.  Regular vouchers are hard to come by because there is no money to pay the doctor who accepts the voucher.

Because of the way the VA is using Vets Choice, the vet actually has no choice in their doctor.  The medicine I am taking for the diaphragm spasms works, but only lasts about two hours. On Friday when I see the non-VA specialist I will see about increasing the dosage.  What the medication has confirmed in the spasms are impairing my breathing.  When the medicine wears off, my chest goes tight, my breathing goes shallow and the pain gets intense.  It woke me this morning when I got the phone call.

They now know the lungs are impaired.  This has been confirmed by a CT scan.  My PCP wants me to go to the ER, but I refuse.  You do not go to Valley Baptist ER unless it is your specialist having you admitted.  Otherwise they choose your doctor, and deny your specialist access to you, unless the doctor they chose allows for it.

So we are now two weeks since my PCP's nurse called me and said a request for a regular voucher has been put in for Dr. Jairo Rodriguez.  Three times now the VA has called me to inform me they will not accept the request of my doctor.  I have to go through Vets Choice first which requires I be seen by the VA internal pulmonologist.  That is not going to happen.  He has a medical license because the state of Texas does not give a crap.  A previous incident is why I am allowed to see an outside pulmonologist.  A simple thoracic CT scan proved the VA pulmonologist wrong and we finally had a diagnosis, a diagnosis which is part of the problem with the diaphragm.

THERE IS NO MONEY FOR THE VA KNOWN AS COASTAL BEND WHICH GOES FROM CORPUS DOWN THE COAST AND OVER TO LAREDO

The issue of the lack of funding is not even on the table with Congress.  There is no movement by Congress to fix the problem. Compounding the problem we have Congressman Vela supporting the medical school which will eat up VA money which our system does not even have.  Medical schools tied to the VA use VA money for doctor training.  The VA does not have money to pay the doctors, or allow for further outside care, but Vela wants the VA to budget the money it does not have to subsidize a UT Medical school.

I am so tired of these lying thieving politicians.

I will see what my specialist has to say on Friday.  He is not a pulmonologist, but he can have me admitted for the part of the problem his team is handling and then add Dr. Jairo Rodriguez to consult.  I do not think that is going to happen.  So long as the anti-spasm medicine works - he is going to continue advanced testing which will be discussed with me Friday.  Only once the advanced testing done will a possible surgery be discussed.

But for now I will continue to wake up in the middle of the night not breathing.  Our government is beyond broken.  There is money for me to go to the ER to be assigned a doctor who is not part of my team, but no money to send me to the doctor who is part of my team.

IT IS LONG PAST THE  TIME FOR CONGRESSMAN VELA TO STAND ON THE HOUSE FLOOR AND HUMILIATE HIS PEERS INTO SUBMISSION TO FUND THE COASTAL BEND VA SYSTEM

Do not hold your breath my friends - Vela wants to stay tight with the corporatists in Congress so he will not rock the boat.  He will continue to attend functions praising vets while ignoring the problem.  It is not complex - Stand on the House Floor and Humiliate Your Peers into Funding Coastal Bend VA.

Vela will never humiliate his fellowship of Royals, due to the fact that they are unladen with humility, therefore unable to be humiliated.

Part of the problem is the VA budget is capped under the budget deal made several years ago. Bernie Sanders pushed to lift the cap and the Republicans voted it down. Bernie Sanders is the only one who has denounced them for their actions. Vela has remained dead silent.
