Cameron County is no longer about a handful of bloggers with limited readership.  It is about endless groups with FB organizations able to organize and organize fast.  This is great for our Democracy.

Numerous groups through FB and Blogs fought for Lincoln Park and against the new logo for the COB.  The last I checked the people won on both accounts.

The people are in tune with the broken political system in Cameron county.  With every day Dan Sanchez does not publicly urge Pete Sepulveda to name his replacement he hurts his chances at winning the nomination for county judge. I understand legally Dan Sanchez is a holdover until his replacement. But the hold over rule was not designed to keep people who have resigned in office indefinitely.  Dan made a decision and he needs to stick to the spirit of the law.  The best way to force Pete Sepulveda to appoint Sanchez's replacement is for Sanchez to announce he will not longer attend Commissioner Court meetings, even as a legal holdover.

Dan needs to decide, does he want to start his campaign with a con - or a frank and honest conversation as to what he brings to the table to make Cameron county into a metroplex. For me the latter is too important to be lost in an endless conversation about Dan sticking around as an indefinite hold over.

"Dan needs to decide, does he want to start his campaign with a con" Why did you say that? Sanchez campaign started with a con against Veterans and county employees. Someone on behalf of Sanchez misused county government computers a week ago when he announced his candidacy in front of the courthouse. Someone sent an invitation on behalf of Dan Sanchez using the mass county email to all county employees inviting them to what was supposed to be a celebration honoring Veterans. It was not a celebration honoring Veterans. It was a con. It was Sanchez's campaign announcement. What a disgrace and a disrespect to the men and women that serve our Country. Sanchez should have waited and let that day belong to our Veterans. Will David Garcia or any other commissioners or Pete Sepulvedo do anything to investigate who authorized a mass email from county computers to all county employees? Mr. Sanchez should have left Veterans Day to the Veterans. Sec. 39.02. ABUSE OF OFFICIAL CAPACITY. A public servant commits an offense if, with intent to obtain a benefit, he intentionally or knowingly misuses government property belonging to the government that has come into the public servant's custody or possession by virtue of the public servant's office.

Low information voters of Cameron County do not care about whether or not Dan Sanchez does that honorable thing. He doesn't give a damn about the county.

More people need to push for a replacement to be named. The bloggers are committing more to outdated pictures of Mr. Amigo than they are this important issue. It's pathetic, and somebody needs to grow a pair of balls and push Sepulveda to get it done.

First I agree with your post and frustration. But for the record the BV has never ever mentioned Mr. Amigo. Further this post is pretty clear either Sanchez has to force Sepulveda's hand or Sepulveda needs to act.

I have personally waited long enough. Dan has lost my support and for me Sepulveda has become the county clown
