ONE OF A MOTHER'S GREATEST GIFTS TO HER CHILDREN CAN BE THERE ARE NO LIMITATION AS TO WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH YOUR LIFE

Jessica Tetreau-Kalifa's victory last night was actually quite remarkable.  Now some will say 19 votes is not remarkable and that Cesar de Leon outright winning in a field of 4 with 54% is remarkable.  Well this is true if you just look to the cover of the book.

Cesar de Leon had Galonsky's money and Tony Martinez's political machine.  It is not lost on anyone Cesar had 45 mail ballots while Tony had 44.  Do I think anything illegal? No - it just means they probably legally worked the mail-ballots together.

What Jessica did was not beat Sergio Zarate, but beat the Lucio political machine and its money.  Four years ago she won with a write in ballot.  Almost unheard of.  Without the Lucio money and political machine Sergio would have been lucky to maybe hit 35-40%.

This simple reality is what makes Jessica's victory amazing.  Jessica and her army of supporters beat the Lucio political machine. She put a crack in that machine that everyone can see.  Eddie Lucio III is clearly vulnerable.  I hope someone with money and the ability to put together a political machine will challenge him.  Jessica proved with money and a machine you can beat the Lucios, and Brownsville is the better for it.

Great victory not only for yourself and your family Jessica, but for Brownsville and Cameron County.  Everyone now knows the Lucios are vulnerable,  Let the 2016, primaries against the Lucios begin.

I truly believe had Zarate run a fair campaign without the use of two paid bloggers who used porn and defamation to attack Tetreau, he would have won. Zarate easily lost 100 votes when he chose the mudslinging route instead of running on his own achievements. When are candidates, especially make candidates, going to to learn to focus on their own campaign and own platform instead of running a campaign with nasty bloggers that always attack and demoralize women.

On part I agree 100% - the use of vulgarities hurts with the voters.

But DownbythBorder is in a lot of trouble. The Lucios cannot help him with the IRS or Texas Comptrollers office. He could not really run hard on that issue because then the press would have had to report the problems.

But the big story is, the Lucio money and political machine now has a crack in it - hopefully someone will make use of it and run against Lucio III

You are right about the serious issues facing them because of their nonprofit. Even then, Tetreau didn't use it against him in her campaigning. Instead, she campaigned even harder on highlighting her achievements. Therein lies the difference in the candidates. One campaigned with integrity while the other lacked integrity in its character assassinations.
