This is proof Brownsville is progressing - The funny thing is, growing up on Long Island, I remember shopping in stores like this.

I am still very busy and overwhelmed with things to do.  I learned that the nursing home never put my brother on the waiting list or requested his medical records.  I was pissed.  This means further delay - the other nursing home I considered is out of the question.  I know a woman who has been told for three months that the nursing home cannot figure out how to get Medicaid for her indigent father.  This woman is ready for the hospital herself.  Having a loved one who cannot leave the bed and needs 24/7 care living in your home is both physically and emotionally exhausting.

I also learned that the nursing home I am waiting on has never heard of TRICARE - military retirement insurance - this means I will have to handle the insurance - I will not trust it to a nursing home which has never even heard of it.  They also lied about having other veterans at the home.

What exactly was the point?

The key to a good nursing home is a good administrator.  I can always go up there and make sure my brother is being attended to - but you must have a good administrator.  Well that is not going to happen in Brownsville.  The third nursing home I checked into smelled like a sewer . I could not wait to get out of there.

What a sad state of affairs for our seniors.

Try Meadows?

But I have learned that you have to constantly be arriving at odd times to make sure folks are taking care of family. It is sad, but you have to do it.

Sorry for the later approval - I was in McAllen and then Harlingen all day - basically very good news for me.

I will check this place on Monday - I am certain there are no administrators there on the weekends.

You are right about being there every day at different times. My big thing is a good administrator - I need someone I can work with.

You know my brother must have a recliner chair and this one place said no problem. Then I met the chief administrator and he said no way.
