I was joking with someone that maybe the time has come to recruit UC to Brownsville - but TAMU will do.

Texas A&M has been promoting and working to get RGV students interested in Engineering for several years. Hanna High School has sent students to the E-12 program for the last two or three years and will send 20 or thirty students to the E-12 program this fall. see link: http://easa.tamu.edu/e12ee/e12-program.htm

The 25 by 25 initiative, if achieved will put Texas A&M in a class by itself.
See: http://engineering.tamu.edu/news/2013/01/23/texas-am-announces-initiative-to-increase-engineering-enrollment-to-25-000-students

Texas A&M is way out in front on this issue, believe me, I have fist hand knowledge.
