I copied this from a 2012, post.  I was checking which federal and state agencies were reading the BV today and found a Washington agency brought up this post.  Why?  I do not know.
"When Corpus Christi Judge Rose Vela was looking for an appointment to the Texas Supreme Court, her husband turned to a longtime friend and ally of Gov. Rick Perry: Cameron County Judge Carlos Cascos.

But Filemon Vela said he was dismayed by what Cascos told him: He needed to publicly disavow his support of Perry rival Kay Bailey Hutchison, get on the Perry re-election bandwagon and give the governor some campaign money for his wife to even be considered."

... ...

"Cascos acknowledged that he gave Filemon Vela advice on how his wife might become eligible for an appointment to the high court — including a recommendation that Filemon Vela endorse Perry and contribute to his campaign, he said.

Cascos said he acted alone, without direction from Perry or his aides, a subject of dispute."

The irony is that the vela's are supporting cascos.

I would like to see proof of that because what I was told today when I called Washington is that they want to recruit Cascos to run against Vela depending on the numbers - if he gets 49% that may be enough to beat Vela in 2 years.

Now I like Vela and he has a good reputation among Veterans - Vela understands he is not in Washington to get in these spitting matches over power, but to get things done for his district - he votes the district and not mindless political agendas - that game is for the Senate not the House
