FREE SPEECH MATTERS - WE MUST STAND UNITED

Weslaco Cheezmeh may have been the target of unconstitutional intimidation to silence Free Speech.

While I am not comfortable relying on the reporting of a Brownsville Herald reporteer, there does appear to be some backtracking and panic by the Welsaco PD.

From the Herald:

"The anonymous director of the Facebook page “Weslaco Cheezmeh” — a hub of leaked documents, rumors and anti-establishment opinion about the city — had a rollercoaster few days last week, as the page unexpectedly disappeared Wednesday, then re-emerged shortly before 5 p.m. on Friday.

Shortly after the page went down, Mike Jones, a fellow Weslaco commentator on the social media site, posted a screenshot of an email appearing to be from a Facebook administrator.
“Hi,” the note — dated Tuesday and apparently addressed to Cheezmeh — began. “We have received legal process from law enforcement seeking information about your Facebook account.”
The email then listed Weslaco Police Department as the law enforcement agency lodging the complaint and the 139th state District Court as the court with authority over it.
“There is an investigation going … on the Facebook account,” Police spokesman David Barbosa said Thursday. “I don’t know what kind of investigation it is.”

The courts have recognized blogs and other social media as valid news sources.  We are under attack across the Valley because we will cover the stories the mainstream press is to cowardly to cover.  I have had many a document leaked to me.  That is how this process works.  I will never give up the source of a leaked document. Those who leak information to me are big boys.  They know if they get caught they could lose their jobs or even face criminal charges.

Our hopelessly corrupt DA Luis Saenz has banned the blogs from press conferences because I refuse to print his garbage press releases without first investigating the claims.

Judge McDonald and now its appears Judge Gonzales are using the bailiffs to keep bloggers and social media out of the courtrooms.

Unfortunately the con artist organization ACLU will not come to our assistance.  Those with money in the LRGV are good enough to solicit money from, but we are not good enough to merit their protection.

I am not familiar with the Weslaco Cheezmeh, but I know what happened to them is wrong.

TO MY READERS:  Consider showing solidarity with them by clicking on their Facebook above.  This is wrong.  I have no idea what they stand for.  All I know is - this is wrong.

Cheezmeh is like you, receives leaks docs from the big guys. The WPD indeed try and stop them from publishing and "investigated" who is behind the Facebook blog. The profile gives locals a voice to express frustrations and others to share the truth of what is happening in Weslaco. Censorship is wrong on every level. I'm so glad you shared this with your readers!

Glad you posted Bobby.
The Herald and the Monitor are worthless! !!

Some blogs do good and represent the voice of the people. Weslaco Cheezmeh, as does Mike Jones, is known to verbally attack everyone who questions his claims and disagrees with his opinions. I have experienced this first hand. Also, Weslaco Cheezmeh is very unfair and partial and targets only the people he hates.

The problem with you comment is, you can change W Cheez to any news service in the world and apply the same claims. No one likes being the target or being challenged so they make the comment.

I am not familiar with W Cheez, but your comment seems to suggest that violating their constitutional rights is okay if you perceive them to be unfair.

Authorities may have had complaints against Weslaco Cheezmeh. I know the page has been reported to Facebook for harassing citizens. It is unlawful to bully and harass people on the internet. It is possible that the investigation is concerning this.

Where is it illegal? And what is harassment? People face criticism everyday in the press and it is not harassment

You state, "I am not familiar with W Cheez," so you don't know.

I do know. I am familiar with Weslaco Cheezmeh. If you question or disagree with his opinion, you may never hear the end of it of the name calling.

If you don't know what harassment is, you have to read about it or take a class. I know that some of their comments have been been inappropriate and have been removed by Facebook.

First of all I am very well acquainted with the law. I have won several cases concerning the First Amendment.

How do you know FACEBOOK has removed comments - moderators reject and remove comments all of the time - not FaceBook.

Google has a policy that you can defame all you want until a judge sends them an order stating the moderator defamed someone.

You obviously know nothing about the law and just seem to think if you say it is so.

Bad moderators allow anony 3rd parties to post the most vile things and under federal law the moderator is immune. So again where is it illegal.

Instead of saying I am wrong - give me the law - you can't.

efforts on harassment fail because of first amendment issues.

Some people have filed suit, only to lose - it is a near impossible battle.

And who is to say it is harassment? You - because you do not like it?

God save Freedom the day we live in the county you perceive

I reported abusive comments that Weslaco Cheezmeh wrote about me, and i also Mike Jones that wrote about me after i questioned some of the claims Weslaco Cheezmeh was making. Both comments were removed. Mike Jones later commented on a local page that i had reported him.

If you go to the "Help" section of Facebook and search for "Report Abuse," you will find the information you want.

To begin with, I think you need to read this. http://definitions.uslegal.com/c/cyber-bullying/

It is very easy to report a post on Facebook that is abusive. Simply click on the arrow pointing down at top right side of the post, opposite from the picture and name. Click "Report/Mark as Spam," and report it as abusive from there.

I am aware of the abuse link - top lawyers have filed complaints and Facebook as done nothing - but moderators rather than have problems will remove the comments - by their choice.

Dude - you are on here blogging as an anony without any proof - just how stupid do you think people are .

If I say my sources are saying you are blogging from a mental institution it must be true - I can assure you my readers are not as stupid as you presuppose
