TEXAS NEEDS TO REFORM ITS RECOUNT LAW

In some states when a margin of victory is low enough an automatic recount is done at no cost to the losing candidate. Even under those laws no automatic recount is in order in any of the primary elections.   In other states where the candidate has to request the recount, so long as the difference is low enough the losing candidate does not have to pay for the recount.

In the next legislative session Texas needs to bring itself in line with the other states on this issue.  In this last election nothing would change, but it is unseemly that for us to know for sure the count is  correct in a close election that the candidate has to pay for the recount.  This rule invites abuse and fraud.  I am not saying there is fraud in this last go around, I am just saying it invites fraud and abuse
