SUPREME COURT UPHOLDS FIRST AMENDMENT

Today the US Supreme Court found that under the First Amendment the government cannot mandate that an organization oppose prostitution as a condition of receiving federal funding.

The matter related to:  In the United States Leadership Against HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria Act of 2003 (Leadership Act),

Associate Justice Scalia and Thomas found that the government can impose such restrictions.  Associate Justice Kagan did not participate in the decision.  The majority opinion was  written by Chief Justice Roberts.
