INTRIGUE AT CITY HALL

The May election will decide many things.  I expect there will be shake ups in the city administration if Tony Martinez wins a solid majority.  When I am over at city hall, sources tell me that the difference between Pat Ahumada and Tony Martinez is stark.  People feared Pat for his reckless conduct and stupidity - they fear Tony Martinez for his ruthless drive at power - it is no challenge to meet an administrator or assistant administrator who will tell you, Tony thinks he is king.  The administrators fear him.  Numerous administrators fear what will come of their jobs if Tony Martinez wins a reliable majority.  If this happens we can be assured of a series of lawsuits against the city as Tony Martinez and his majority of Rose Gowen, John Villarreal, and (the new girl on the block) vote to start firing anyone who does not accept Tony Martinez as king.

One administrator told me Tony Martinez is following the lead of Enrique Escobedo and Presas-Garcia - reward anyone who is willing to do your dirty work or push the rumors and lies needed to get what Tony wants, while seeking to remove from the city anyone not willing to play along.  If Tony Martinez gets his reliable majority the COB is in for a round of bloodletting through endless litigation.  The only administrators and key personnel standing will be the most incompetent and unethical administrators and key personnel Tony Martinez can find.

At this time he does not have a reliable majority.  It blows my mind every time I read someone believes Melissa Zamora is somehow tied to Tony Martinez.  She organized the voice of the people against Tony Martinez on the issue of free speech.  She abstained from voting to pay $2.3 million to a client of Tony Martinez's law firm for property the COB does not need.  When you hear mindless rumors which defy the know facts, you should question the motivation behind the rumors.  But this is Brownsville - where rumors have more force and effect than in Peyton Place.

Politics in Brownsville is about betrayal - you either get on board with the corruption, or the powers that be will destroy you.  Unfortunately when you have people in Brownsville who are determined to print any dumb ass stupid lie so long as it hurts someone, it becomes easy for the corrupt forces to win the day.  Tony Martinez and his trolls will float any rumor need be to destroy anyone who does not worship his conniving ways.

If Tony Martinez and his corrupt ways are to be stopped, the people must run a people's ticket.  Cheezmeh will show just how unethical they really are in this up and coming election.  They will stand with John Villarreal no matter how clear the evidence is he is nothing more than a rubber stamp for Tony Martinez.   All of the claims against Tony Martinez will all of a sudden become unimportant.

I will never forget John's face on the smoking ban issue.  He sat there in a complete state of panic not knowing what to do - does not vote as ordered by Tony Martinez or does he vote what he believes his constituents want?  You can be a rubber stamp without voting the line every time.

Ernie Hernandez may be the most astute politician in Brownsville/Cameron County.  He has to know Tony Martinez is in trouble politically.  Ernie has to know that if Tony does not get his reliable majority come May, there is going to be a blood bath against Tony Martinez and those aligned with him. Smart money has Ernie Hernandez releasing John Villarreal to be his own man.  I have not written off John Villareal in terms of being a city commissioner for the people.  Smart money has  Ernie Hernandez standing down during the May election.

Tony Martinez already has someone lined up to replace Melissa Zamora.  I have had several independent sources verify the same name for me on several occasions.  As soon as I get a written verification from a source I will publish that written verification.  Tony Martinez must hold on to Rose Gowen's seat either through Rose Gowen or a replacement candidate.  This leaves him very little money to also hold on to John Villarreal's seat.  Tony Martinez has no money to run anyone against John Villarreal.  John Villarreal has a very small window to distance himself from Tony Martinez of find himself in a battle royal for his political future.

What about Tony Zavaleta? Would he stand up for what he believes or be part of the Martínez majority?

tonby Zavaleta suffers from saviour syndrome - Brownsville is looking for new voices - not the same old recylced people who have never done a thing for Brownsville

She didn't abstain. She voted against it.

Well, woe is me, is there hope for District 4?

District 4 can be the salvation of the city - there are a lot of large businesses in district 4 which can unite behind a highly qualified Latina - with a clear message that Tony Martinez will be curtailed.

I can say that today's post got me a few phone calls - apparently some of Tony's allies are claiming they will not be backing his candidates come May - they see the writing on the wall

That is a good thing? Yes?
What is the writing in the wall?

the writing on the wall is, backing Tony Martinez or his allies like Juliet garcia are tantamount to backing lost causes - we shall see if the money materializes to run a highly qualified latina in District 4

The time to start the narative as to why Tony's candidates must lose is now - not April

I am of meager earnings, but would gladly donate $50 to a qualified and genuine candidate for District 4.

I think a real candidate who will serve the people could win with small donations and a large grass roots movement - it would hurt Tony Martinez politically to challenge a true grass roots movement
