DISABILITY INC. NAMES BROWNSVILLE FOR WORKSHOP ON ADVOCATING FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION CHILDREN

Editor's Note:  There is a lot happening behind the scenes involving BISD.   It is stuff like this which makes me blogging all of the time impossible.   I have spent months using documents to convince Disability Inc Brownsville has a problem.  The fact I have helped families successfully file 4 TEA complaints against BISD helped my argument.  Like I said, there is a lot happening behind the scenes.  I do have some additional news which will probably have to wait until maybe Friday.  I only have maybe 3 good hours a week to work on BISD issues.  Right now I have more than I can handle.  So - be patient

Also, on a personal note - and this is the difference between a con artist who never delivers, and an honest person.  I do not care why Disability Inc chose Brownsville as part of this program.  I have no way of knowing if my months of sending them documents and getting them involved in one case had any impact on their decision to target Brownsville.  I am certain the TEA was also involved.  I say this because it was the TEA who recommended that this particular family get Disability Inc involved in his daughter's case. All that should matter to anyone is, Brownsville may finally get some help.  It is time for everyone to work together to educate all of Brownsville about this workshop.

It would be nice if the people running for office would donate the money needed to take out three consecutive Sunday full page ads in the Herald.

The difference between an advocate and a con artist is, an advocate advocates and educates while never engaging in self promotion for profit.  The focus must be on educating parents and guardians about this March 31, 2012 workshop.  I am certain if we can educate the parents at BISD, and the other surrounding school districts about the rights of their children, we can force meaningful change at BISD and the other surrounding school districts.

DISABILITY INC.

I was all smiles today when a friend told me about Disability Inc.s mailer.  His daughter's case is one of the cases they are actively involved in at this time.  His daughter's case was particularly compelling given the fact we were able to prove willful neglect.  Brownsville ISD remains clueless on the issue of special needs children.

TIME TO EDUCATE BROWNSVILLE

We have plenty of time to educated the parents about this workshop.  I will be asking several candidates for public office to also raise the issue at campaign events.  We need to pack the room with parents who are willing to learn how to advocate for their children, and learn how to take complaints to the TEA.  Only the parents can force the change.  This current Board (all 7) do not care about this issue.  Dr. Montoya is lost in a cloud on the issue.  He is as clueless as they come.

"The difference between an advocate and a con artist is, an advocate advocates and educates while never engaging in self promotion." So true!

Agree 100% with the previous comment: Self promotion is not advocating for the children...these "two" cata and flim flam will sell their own children for money, or power, or both.
