MARIE WELDON - VA SAN ANTONIO - CANCELS ALL APPOINTMENTS FOR LRGV VETERANS

I only just learned of this last week. In one decision it was ordered that all clinics were to cancel all appointments for LRGV veterans, with a handful of exceptions related to such thinks as ongoing cancer treatment.

Most veterans do not know their rights and if they did would not know how to fight. Several months ago as part of this war declared on the LRGV veterans by Marie Weldon, Director of VA San Antonio, LRGV veterans received a letter telling them they have a right to be seen in San Antonio. They may not get lodging and they may not get travel pay, but they have a right to be seen.

Veterans who had post surgery follow-ups were told - appointment cancelled. Veterans in long term treatment with a specialist were told - appointment cancelled.

No one checked the records to determine if the cancelling of the appointment would put the veteran in harms way. Appointments which may have been 6 months in the making - cancelled. No one cared if it meant a biopsy would not be done and the veteran has to wait another 6 months before seeing another specialist. No one cared if the veteran was being denied an opportunity to have a life threatening disease diagnosed - all appointments cancelled.

As veterans we were never told that when needed healthcare  would be dependent on where we live.

These veterans were not offered vouchers to see a specialist in the LRGV. It is up to the veteran, many too old to help themselves, to call the VA clinic in Harlingen and make an appointment with the PCP - this can take 3-4 months. Then, if the new clinic does not have a specialist available with access to the testing, the veteran will be given a voucher to go out and find a specialist. Many just give up - neither they nor their healthcare giver know how to go out and find a doctor. I know the case of a Brownsville veteran who needed a minor surgery. He was told to find a urology surgeon on his own. He had no idea what to do - the VA did give him a list of doctors - none of whom performed the surgery.

Senator John Cornyn could not give a rats ass about veterans. If the VA knew he cared they would never treat LRGVveterans in this manner. Yes, it is better we are seen in the LRGV. But once the veteran had the appointment what was the point in cancelling it?  Long term care by one doctor can be the difference between life and death. A 6 month delay in diagnosis could mean death for some of these veterans. But for Marie Weldon, Director VA San Antonio - not her problem - the LRGV veterans are no longer in the catchment area of a VA hospital so we are not entitled to the same respect and care of every other veteran.

Of course the Herald and San Antonio Express News have declared this as not newsworthy. They want freedom of speech but will not defend those who fight to insure their freedom of speech.

Oh, Marie Weldon is so disconnected from the veterans she ordered the operators to under no circumstances transfer calls to her office.

Not that reality matters to a lunatic like yourself - under Bush VA healthcare was a disaster - Walter Reed proved wounded soldiers were being denied healthcare - Bush - under Bush the mental healthcare system for vets was held a violation of veterans rights - the order came down after Obama took office but it was for actions under Bush

Do your delusions really tell you that typing with caps and lying will mean people find you credible?

so the federal courts and veterans conspired to blame Bush for the poor healthcare for veterans - you seek to blame Obama and simply choose to ignore the fact the courts found the VA violated the constitutional rights of veterans through the poor healthcare.

and yes - those all caps really make you look smart

The national news media about a three weeks ago realized that the Texas press has given Perry a pass - they have dispatched reporters all over the state - they realize the Texas press is a joke - we shall see what they find.
