JOAQUIN CASTRO VS LLOYD DOGGETT

Up front I want to be clear about something - being a Latino does not make you more qualified to represent Latinos than an Anglo. One only need look to the DINOLINOS of Cameron County for poof.

Joaquin Castro is the twin brother of San Antonio mayor Julian Castro.  Julian Castro is expected to run for governor when Perry's current term is up.

Their is no dispute, for his time Lloyd Doggett has done a good job representing his district.  The problem is, all elected Texas Democrats have failed to convince Texans why it is time to dump the Republicans.  We are not going to get the Independents to vote in large numbers for Democrats until we give them new choices.  We must show them we are changing.  We must show them that the old guard Democrats are a thing of the past.  We need knew blood.

It will be a sad day in the career of Lloyd Doggett if he loses the Primary.  This is not how he should go out.  Washington insiders need to explain the new reality to him and ask that he announce his retirement.

But to be clear - Lloyd Doggett has not done anything wrong - it is simply if the Democrats are to take back the state, we need new blood.

How is it not a new choice? Lloyd Doggett is giving this new district a choice. Not everyone in the district knows Doggett and his record as a great congressman. What has Joaquin done as a state representative to merit moving to Washington? Just because he is Mexicano doesn't make him better than Doggett. Do they have politiqueras up there?

When you learn to read and comprehend English - which you obviously cannot - try posting an intelligent non-racist comment.

A lot of us latinos of Mexican decent don't call ourselves chicano, latino or hispanic. We are Mexicanos. Just because the district is primarily Mexicano doesn't mean Castro has to be their choice. We don't automatically feel all warm and fuzzy just because we vote for Mexicano. The anon agrees with you, but they are racist? Doggett is a new choice for that one district. He offers a different kind of liberalism. He represented a lot of Mexicanos when he represented McAllen. They loved Doggett in the valley. I believe you have a misguided superiority complex, buddy. It's a negative reflex for you to question their smarts. You belittle everyone's intellegence for no good reason. You ridicule their ability to read English like you are God's gift to the Queen's English. It's on random occassions you will agree with some hapless sap. Are you too good for us? Is that your game? How sad for you.

I am Hispanic, Republican, and would vote for Julian Castro. He has done wonders in San Antonio and that is what I look for in a candidate. Now, will left wing Democrats vote for him? I think not! That is the problem with old school Democrats and Republicans. You can't blame the Republicans for our per capita income down here! The old Democratic oath, "Keep them dumb and hungry," give them a plate of fajitas, rice and beans, and they'll vote for you!

You're BS will not fly - I made it clear Lloyd Doggett has been a good congressman - a mere reference to Mexicano would not have been racist - it was the implication that because he is Mexicano he would steal the election with politiqueras - any idiot can see this - further you need to learn how to identify a theme and comprehend English - I did not say choice in the context of new to the district - I said choice in new blood for the party

this was clear in teh post - so your comments are pure BS and without any foundation.

I also made clear that the DINOLINOS in Cameron County are proof being Latino does not mean you will represent the latino Community any better than an Anglo

So at every level your post has nothing to do with the reality of the post

And not that reality matters to you, but the BV posts contrary comments all of the time as special entries standing alone - why? Because the BV is about diversity of opinion - but it is not about idiots trying to pass off BS as intelligence

His mother was a community activist. I think she was a politiquera. Not all politiqueras are corrupt or use mail in ballots. Many are no more than block captains like the ones they have in Chicago. I know you meant new blood. I don't see why getting rid of a good congressman to replace him with new blood is going to make any difference. There is little a freshman congressman can accomplish in the minority. Maybe the new blood should run for something else like senator. The token Mexicano democrat running for senate isn't raising any real money. The Castro brothers could. A freshman senator could do something more than a rookie congressman. The district is better off with a veteran congressman like Doggett. At most every level you and I agree. You are just to blinded by hate to see it.

So you know I find general Sanchez to be an insult to the Latino community. Your argument about Lloyd Doggetts seniority is correct - but here is teh problem - Texas will not vote Democrat as a state until there is new blood - castro's your and education is what makes him a good candidate - not being a Mexican American - because as we know in cameron county that counts for nothing.

You will never hear me say anything negative about Doggett - this is simply about new blood to bring in new voters - and in the long run this is best for Texas.

A run for Senate could be an option - but the Anglo leaders in Austin have already chosen their loser candidate - General Sanchez

If this is simply about new blood, Castro can run in his own backyard of San Antonio. As for us in Travis County, we wish to keep Lloyd working hard for us. The Republicans have once again redrawn the congressional district lines in an attempt to silence the voice that advocates for our families and works hard to bring much needed resources to all communities. His experience and senority threatens their partisan agenda. The Republicans would rather have someone who believes in compromising the values we hold dear. They are threaten by individuals who exhibit courage, integrity, intelligence and compassion. Lloyd has overwhelming support from Latinos in Travis, Caldwell, and Hays counties for he is a proven leader we can count on - whether he is fighting for federal education aide being sent directly to schools, standing firm for our commitment to Social Security and Medicare for our seniors, or speaking out for comprehensive immigration reform, including the Dream Act. Lloyd has proven time and again that he works hard for all constituents.
