$366.00 for a roundtrip ticket to Monterrey? I'll pass.

the people who are taking the private charters are paying more than $366.00 these flights are for business people and a hand full of shoppers.

Compare - same dates Brownsville to Dallas

AA $278.00
Continental $271.00

Harlingen to Dallas

Southwest $314.00

yes its true - Southwest is the most expensive way to fly.

For an international flight it is not that high - also AeroMexico could lower the fares if the load level is high enough

Also 737's are cheaper to fly - in time they may realize with the demand at a certain level they can make more money flying 737's instead of the commuter jets

Some people in DF have winter homes in Brownsvill and some people come for business.

with a change of plane in Monterrey the the cost is $406 to $641.00 depending on the dates you choose.

Continental is basically $434.00 all of the time.

For the family coming to spend the winter in Brownsville or the business traveller - Mexico City may produce some of the customers.

Sounds like a fair deal..I'll bet that Fly Frontera could have never matched that fare with their little plane. I picked up someone from the airport lastnight. With the new paid parking occupying the outbound Billy Mitchell lanes, they now re-route you through dark dreary streets like Crixell and Les Mauldin. There were trailers parked along Crixell. When you come out to Iowa, there are no signs to direct you where to go. It really needs to be addressed. the whole airport road system should be uniquely illuminated, landscaped, and signed so that visitors know they are in the airport. They should also have wayfinding signs to direct you to Mexico, Downtown, and the Island. Finally, Iowa Street is deplorable. Considering that the City owns most of the property along both sides of it, they really should consider placing a boulevard with a landscaped median up to Boca Chica. Oh, and one other thing! They really need to sever south Minnesota where it connects back to California Road. the airport should be a closed system. Those citizens can use Norton Drive and Iowa to get back to Billy Mitchell. Then, the City can eliminate that hideous chainlink fence that they placed around the paid parking. Hopefully some of our commissioners read this!
