TEXAS DEMOCRATS DEFINE RACISM

Boyd Richie as the Chair of the Texas Democratic Party is the essence of America's new racism. His disconnect between the Latino community and his presumption we are all the same and he owns us reflects the worst of Plantation politics.

I can assure Boydie Boy that if Cameron County is part of a new congressional district and the Democrats nominate the likes of Armando Villalobos or Rene Oliveira, someone like Carlos Cascos will kick their ass and the Republicans will have yet another Texas congressional seat.

The problem with the general as a senate candidate is he is either a lying SOB who turned a blind eye to the abuses at Abu Ghraib, or he is incompetent. His defense was - "I know nothing." You know, when you are in charge - you better know everything.

Every Latino in this country who came here in the last 30 years and became a US citizen probably has some connection to a county where so called leaders claimed to know nothing about the missing, the dead, or tortured. This electorate base knows all too well the General Sanchez's from their country of origin.

I find the suggestion that we as Latino's will rally around a man who claimed to have no knowledge of what was happening under his own command, when the events were as wide spread and inhumane as what was happening at Abu Ghraib, to be offensive and racist. We do not vote merely based on their ethnic background.

The new generation immigrant Latino American citizen knows General Sanchez all too well - many fled countries where General Sanchezs were a dime a dozen.

It boggles my mind that Boydie Boy does not know this. The recruitment of General Sanchez is an insult to the Latino community. While I agree that a Latino for US Senate heading the ballot is a good thing, I do not want a Latino at any cost. Last time we had a DINOLINO in Noriega - Boydie Boy did not learn any lesson from that disaster.

I am hard pressed to believe the Texas Democratic Party cannot find a charismatic Latino with true Democratic credentials and a history of competency -  he/she exists - but maybe the last thing the Texas Democrats want is a truly competent Latino as the voice of Texas.

SAN ANTONIO'S MAYOR CASTRO

Juli├ín Castro is the Mayor of San Antonio.  He is young and successful and brings to the plate the vote of San Antonio - an area which is clearly mixed Republican and Democrat with a large group of Independents.

MAYOR CASTRO SPEAKS FRANKLY ABOUT THE TEXAS DEMOCRATIC PARTY

Watch the full episode. See more Tavis Smiley.

While he speaks frankly about the Democratic Party taking Latino's for granted, he also speaks frankly about the anti-Latino mood in the Republican Party.

Why San Antonio matters in a statewide election - 61% Latino, 90% born in the US - they vote

A CONVERSATION WITH MAYOR CASTRO

Watch the full episode. See more Conversations.

Listen to this man's first 5 minutes - he is not about ego, he is about San Antonio. This is a refreshing approach to politics.

My question is, why does Boyd Richie and the Texas Democrats fear Mayor Castro? My answer is, they fear success.

Mayor Castro not only will bring in the Latino vote, based on his competence, success and a sense of pride in one of our own, but also because of his youth.

General Sanchez represents cover-up and failure - so why recruit him for a run for the US Senate. Pay attention to this video Boyd - do not take us for granted or presume being Latino is all it takes to get our vote.

...good points on Sanchez, he perhaps but a tad better than whoever the Republican will be ....

US Senators, most of the 100, lack the vision needed to improves the US' scene at home and abroad.

Sad.

Check your facts about General Ricardo Sanchez before you call him an SOB. In uniform, he was forbidden by the so-called Republicans from opening his mouth to denounce them. They would bring in to the president's office to ask him and to give him stupid excuses for not giving him his 5th star - never mentioned because he was Hispanic. Chaney and Rumsfeld were the ones who hid everything and they got off scot-free. Read
"My Year In Iraq" by Paul Bremer before you make stupid comments about General Sanchez. Yes, I only wish he had talked when he was questioned by the Senate. Then you wouldn't print what you have.

Since you choose to misquote me let's print what I said - and notice the word 'or"

'The problem with the general as a senate candidate is he is either a lying SOB who turned a blind eye to the abuses at Abu Ghraib, or he is incompetent."

I do not doubt he took the fall for Cheney adn Bush - but here is the problem with your statement - it implies he knew what was happening - which would then make him a lying SOB when he said he did not know.

But the "or" is the important word - he was in charge and he did not know the level of abuse happening at the prison - this is not evidence of competency - note the word I used after "or"

If you think Cheney and Rumsfield got off scott free you know nothing. Rumsfielf was forced to resign and Cheney is despised by the American people.

No one beleives he was denied the 5th Star because he was Hispanic - he was a hot political issue - Bush could not afford the negative - Bush sent him packing because Sanchez claimed incompetence when he claimed he had no idea.

Enlisted men and women in majority numbers would never vote for Sanchez - he got off scott free compared to the low level enlisted men and women who went to jail.

Learn to read - learn the importance of "or" - other than a right wing nut job I cannot imagine anyone defending Sanchez - but then you raise racial discrimination - so I guess people who are obsessed with ignorance would also defend Sanchez.

The problem with political parties is the oversimplification by categorizing people as either one or the other.

If you were to read a party platform, I'll bet that almost no one, you and I included, agrees with every stance. In fact, I will bet that there is a healthy percentage of the platforms of both parties that you and I agree with. This is very likely tru of all of us.

If we accept that basic premise as most likely true, how do we find ourselves so passionately defending a position or category that we only embrace by what; 51%, 60%, 70%?

Parties induce this misguided passion with the "us versus them" rhetoric and very intelligent and strong willed people eat that stuff up like some type of religion.

I will never understand this. Never.

Case in point: I find myself agreeing with the GOP about 60% of the time and I would vote for the Mayor of San Antonio to be our next Governor in a heartbeat.

Totally agree.

I'm of the opinion that the divide is not "Democrats" or "Republicans" but "Producers" and "Takers" and Mayor Castro is a "Producer". Very PRO BUSINESS, PRO JOBS and a SUBSCRIBER TO THE FREE ENTERPRISE SYSTEM. I also believe that America is the MELTING POT" FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO BE "FREE" AND PURSUIT THE AMERICAN DREAM THE AMERICAN WAY OF LIFE . WHEN YOU HAVE THAT MIND SET IT DOESN'T MATTER YOUR COLOR, NATIONALITY, OR GENDER BECAUSE IN REALITY IT IS NOT A MEASURE OF WHAT YOU'RE CAPABLE OF. (FYI- PRODUCERS)

Agree. May I add they fear PRIVATE SECTOR SUCCESS!

Why-because it works and the marching orders from WASHINGTON is MORE "TAKERS" WE NEED TO CREATE MORE "TAKERS" BE IT MORE OR HIGHER PAID GOVERNMENT WORKERS TO MORE WELFARE RECIPIENTS IN ORDER TO TAKE FROM THE "EVIL" RICH!!!!!!

THE "EVIL" RICH ARE THE MAYOR CASTRO'S OF THE WORLD AND MANY WHO WANT TO BE "PRODUCERS" TO GET RICH !!!!!!

IS IT NOT THE AMERICAN DREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

really - you really believe this BS - let's talk facts - the Democrats wanted a free enterprise method for getting prescription drugs to seniors - the Republicans opposed the free enterprise system and saddled the US taxpayer with one of the largest unfunded programs in the history of the US.

The Dems wantes the US government to use the market system to buy large quantities of prescription drugs at discounted rates and then resell them to seniors with the savings in place. Bush and his Republican corporatists yelled foul - and instead of allowing the government to use market forces to drive down the price of drugs, they forced the taxpayes to pay full price through its funding of Medicare Part D.

The VA buys drugs on the market and forces down prices through market forces - this saves the taxpayers billions - why did you good buddies in the Republican party oppose the use of market forces to protect the corporations? Because they are not conservatives - they are corporatists

I do buy the "AMERICAN EXPERIMENT". THE FACT THAT WE ARE FREE AND WE HAVE THE FREE ENTERPRISE SYSTEM TO BE WHATEVER WE WANT TO BE FROM "COMFORTABLE" TO VERY VERY RICH IT IS OUR CHOICE TO BE MADE. AND NOT SOME BUREAUCRAT IN WASHINGTON TO MAKE IT FOR US. THIS WHAT SETS US APART FROM THE REST OF THE WORLD. IT'S WHAT MADE AMERICA A WORLD POWER.

Prescription part D gave the control to the senior citizens & what i've read over 60% of seniors are happy w/ part D. Granted like ALL "BILLS" from Washington have flaws like maybe Part D should have been limited to ONLY U.S. SENIOR CITIZENS IN FINANCIAL NEED and exclude the "well off seniors that have the means to cover their meds expenses.

PLUS the dirty little secret why our health care industry is out of whack is the treatment of illegals from ALL OVER THE WORLD that come here to milk our system for FREE & who btw have not contributed to our tax coffers a dime!!!! This is the 500 pound gorilla nobody want to talk about or tackle !!!!!!

Why would u trust a big bureaucratic nightmare of a government who want to become the "walmart" of prescription drugs. As it stands now big government is failing us big time.

BobbyWC said...

you cannot believe in free enterprise and defend medicare part D - seniors would have been just as happy if they were to buy their drugs from the government at a discount - and remember many seniors are paying with taxes - billions have been added to the debt because of the republicans opposing the government buying the drugs on the free market

As to foreigners getting free healthcare - you are repeating Fox news garbage - study after study has shown undocumented workers paying billions into the system - go to SA and tell them foreigners do not pay - medical tourism is huge business in SA - and they pay cash - this makes it better for US Americans because it allows the doctors to make a good profit on the medical tourism

First of all even the republicans have admitted that medicare is more effecient than private insurance - second the VA buys in bulk and saves the taxpayers billions - dude you need to stop swallowing the tainted garbage coming from Fox

Now to be fair I believe you are trying to believe and do what is right by the country - we both agree the deficit is way out of control - but without Bush's two wars, tax breaks and prescription part D we would have a balanced budget.

I get everyone's frustration with the budget deficit - its real and people need to be mad and ask the hard questions - so I respect everyone trying to fight this battle - but you cannot win battles in myths - medicare is more effecient than private insurance - the republicans do not dispute this.

there are solutions but you would probably call it socialism when it is not

Why are government clinics okay for veterans but no okay for the poor and sisabled on medicaid?

We can save the state of Texas millions of dollars if in large cities all people on medicaid had to go to a clinic run by the state such as the VA.

The Republicans oppose this because it means less profits for the hospitals and doctors

The VA in Harlingen is actually very good - I would say the VA in Harlingen may be providing some of the best healthcare in the Valley - where the VA fails is in its hospitals - the problem there is the doctors in training - in Harlingen we do not have this problem - the speciality clinics in harlingen are very good - the only problem is the lying politicians - Senator Hutchinson and Congressman Farenthold - they lied to the people when they said the surgical unit was complete - it is not - something went wrong with the contractor and the procedure and surgery rooms - they are not sterile

So if you see the urologist and you need a procedure in a sterile room, he will have to refer you to an outside urologist who can do the procedure. I know someone who just had a surgery which should have been done in the new clinic and it was not because there are no procedure/surgery rooms.

The blame is not the government - the blame is with the contractor

So I appreciate your concerns about the budget and they are 100% real and need to be addressed - but you must stop listening to Fox - if they speak they lie - now to be fair do not listen to MSNBC either - they take it to the other extreme - and I am not saying to get your information from CNN - do research on line - look for sources which are not always with one side or the other
