Cinco de Mayo

BATTLE OF PUEBLA, MAY 5, 1862

Reputrican talk radio along with every other boor in the US will be complaining today about Cinco de Mayo festivities. They will ask why festivities for non US American holidays? With rare exception all US holidays are imported. St Patty's Day - Not known here, but known to everyone on the East coast - San Gennaro festival - see http://www.sangennaro.org/  We waited for this one - Italian street food in every direction.

Then of course there was going to China Town for their New Year - and let's not forget the fact when I grew up in NY we had off every catholic and Jewish holiday - which basically meant during September and October most school weeks were only 4 days.

So instead of bitching because you are a boor - go party and have a good time - just no drinking and driving.

When in America, play American. Who cares about Cinco de Mayo, 16 de septiembre, St. Patrick's Day, whatever. Celebrate US holidays in the US.
