It is now official Presas-Garcia has shown her hand - she intends to call for a vote to dismiss the Healthsmart lawsuit. Convicted felon Carlos Quintanilla announced this this weekend, and the cause number for the case appears on the agenda.

Also on the agenda is Presas-Garcia seeking $3,000 for herself for attorneys fees after she appeared for a deposition filed by Joe Rodriguez.  Hey Saavedra how much of BISD taxpayer money are you prepared to give away in exchange for what ever you were promised by convicted felon Carlos Quintanilla and his junkies?  Is this about you settling a score over your husband retiring?????

Presas-Garcia would not be so bold as to put these to a vote if she did not have Saavedra on board. My question to Saavedra, what exactly are they offering you and your husband to vote for dismissal of a law suit which is worth potentially millions of dollars to the taxpayers?  What are they offering you and your husband to get you to vote to pay Presas-Garcia's attorneys fees in a matter which was not taken as a BISD Board Member?  Tell us Saavedra - what are you being promised.

Healthsmart has already paid out $850,000.00 to the city of Lubbock with intense settlement discussions ongoing for the amount related to the fraud. At a time BISD has Healthsmart on the run, we have Caty Presas-Garcia, Luci Longoria, Enrique Escobedo and Saavedra looking at dropping the lawsuit, although the original board by a vote of 7-0 voted to file the lawsuit based on an independent audit.

During the deposition, Mrs. Garcia said "I am not paying for attorney".

If this is true, then asking for attorneys fees from the district would be theft

I thought she was sued as a trustee, but the old majority refused to pay her attorneys fees. Is there a rule against her trying to recoup the fees more than six months later?

she was sued individually - not as a trustee

The board already voted to not pay teh attorneys fees. Even the agenda item misrepresents the facts

Either I'm not smart enough to figure it out or my memory is failing. What exactly did Saavedra do or not do? Or are we using our precognitive abilities to spank her for what she will or will not do in the future?

very fair and good question

A lot of what I know is coming from behind the scenes - BISD administrators, who I agree have their own agenda are convinced there is going to be an onslaught agsinst anyone who does not get on Board

Saavedra knows all too well this happens - She can stop it and stablize things or be part of the problem.

During the campaign she ran from anyone who tried to ask her questions about Healthsmart or Quintanilla. When you are a public figure seeking elective office, unless you are Sarah Palin, you do not get to hid from valid questions.

She was warned in no uncertain terms what would happen if she voted for Presas-Garcia are Board President - she showed poor judgment in aligning herself with this group during the campaign and then showed even worse judgment when she voted for Presas-Garcia- all of these special meetings so Presas-garcia can retaliate against people is costing the taxpayers money -

adminitrators have hired attorneys in expectation of an onslaught of investigations and litigation.

If the people talking to me are her friends such as they claim - she appears unwilling to even listen to her friends.

She knowingly helped to create this mess in exchange for power - Otis Powers was so compromised he could not raise legitimate campaign issues against her - more on this with my next post

Hey Bobby, Saavedra voted against the students. Isn't that enough for the voters to realize she is in it for herself and not for the students. Didn't anyone see the last board meeting on December 07, 2010 starting at 5:30pm and ending at 3:00 a.m. Wednesday morning?????
