IS ANOTHER BACK DOOR DEAL IN THE WORKS AT BISD?

The following post to the BV has been held because it makes no sense - or does it?  "Here is a scoop, Judge Elia Cornejo to step down as District Judge to become BISD Interim Counsel.'

My initial reaction was, why would she give up a good paying job for a temporary interim job?  Think about it - it makes no sense - so I thought just another BS rumor - but is it?

Wasn't Saldana a solo practitioner before being hired by Walsh Anderson?  This is what we should watch for - has a deal been cut for Oliveira's office to immediately hire Cornejo for $250,000.00, a year?

The fact Oliveira was willing to make himself party to this mess to begin with tells me he is dumb enough to make himself party to a deal wherein an interim attorney is hired who has already agreed to accept employment with Oliveira.

There are two choices here - Judge Cornejo is the victim of a stupid rumor or a party to a con job.  If it is the latter, she will find herself squarely in the middle of a criminal investigation.

Presas-Garcia has called a special meeting for Thursday to hire interim-counsel.

Are you suggesting that Cata is supporting Cornejo and Oliveira. It takes four votes who else is involved in this? Great scoop.

No, I am raising a question - it all makes no sense - but why the special meeting? - remember Walsh Anderson gets 30 days notice - it seems to me on Friday we are going to see on the agenda again for Tuesday next the notice to settle lawsuits

these people are incredibly stupid people

Escobedo is a complete fool if he does not recuse himself over the million dollar contract for his brother - this means the best they can do is a 3/3 vote to settle anything

you clearly have escobedo and Presas-Garcia - that leaves the question of Longoria and Saavedra -
I am still not sure about what happened at the last attempt to settle these lawsuits

One source told me that it was pointed out to Escobedo he could not vote to settle because of the million dollar contract to his brother - I was told he walked out of the meeting early once he learned this - this would have left at best a 3/3 vote - so maybe Saavedra was not trying to do the right thing - but then other sources told me she did make known she would not be party to this con -

but then why put it back on the agenda unless they have the 4 votes

we need to watch

I am filing with the federal courts a notice to stop all settlements pending investigation and fraud.

there is clear evidence at this point Antonio Juarez and Art Rendon have been meeting with Escobedo either directly or through Lehmann - I have witnesses which have him entering BISD without his lawyer.

Both of their lawyers can be sanctioned for encouraging their clients to meet with BISD trustees or officials - the federal rules are clear - they must go through their lawyers - I will ask the federal judges to investigate whether or not their lawyers violated the rules of professional conduct.

So the deal is for Cornejo Oliveira to settle the lawsuits with Rendon and Juarez or to land the contract and get paid $250,000 to Cornejo and more money than what was paid to Saldana for Oliveira.

Can Judge Cornejo hold both jobs?

Why would Judge Cornejo leave a job that the people elected her to do, what proof do you have that she is even interested in BISD Counsel. Another of your rumor mills? But a good one.

can you read - what part of BS rumor did you not understand?

But something is definitely up - I have now been told by two sources that Springston at the request of Presas-Garcia is refusing to disclose the names of the interim-counsel candidates - why?

people within BISD Administration are pissed and can see the writing on the wall - the herald is refusing to meet with them or report what they want to tell the people

I am telling people I want signed statements before I will go with the claim.

Springston is either playing along at the request of the FBI until the FBI can bring the indictments or he is running scared.

there is no excuse for Springston to withhold from the Board Members the names of the prospective law firms.

Every BISD Board Member has a duty to move to stay the vote until the prospective hire can be interviewed by the board member and put into writing they have not previously met with other board members and agreed to a specific deal.

Zayas and cornejo lopez are best friends and I would be hard pressed to believe she would enter the circus, especially with rene oliveira.

and to be clear - the reason I held the post by anony for a day is because it appeared to be a BS rumor - it makes no sense - but independent of Judge Cornejo-Lopez - what does make sense is Escobedo pushing an interim counsel who has already agreed to be hired by Oliveira - we need to watch for this - there is a reason the trustees are being denied access to the names of the applicants

It is the board authority to hire the attorney for the board not the Superintendent. All the applicants will be submitted to the board of trustees for review. We know who they are hiring. Mr. Escobedo let the cat out of the bag.

do you think they will try to bring back the female lawyer? She left Oliviera to join Walsh...and maybe now they want her back...

Abel Limas needs a job.

Saldana was the board attorney for several years before he joined Walsh Anderson. Walsh Anderson does not hire attorneys who do not have school experience. The reason they hired Walsh Anderson was experience with Special Education and employment. In the past BISD had to hire outside counsel when some cases came up because lack of manpower and/experience. Cornejo Lopez recently had a grievance against the grievance as a parent against the district.

this last post only supports the idea the claim is a BS rumor - who was involved in the grievance

The question is did Cornejo apply for the job and does she have the four votes. Zayas is still trying to wield influence by get ting Cornejo hired.Cornejo has in fact submitted her resume.

Call the judge have her confirm or deny whether she in fact has applied. Bobby go get her.

BobbyWC said...

It makes no sense that Judge Cornejo would apply because Zayas wants it - why would she give up a good job for a temporary position, unless some other firm has agreed to hire her as part of the greater contract

Her grievance according to what I read was against the principal that was moved from Sharp. This was the one that was a relative of Zayas.

I thought that they needed to name the person/company being hired on the agenda. If so this would make it illegal to hire this week. The reason I think that they are holding the names is so that the board members can not contact them ahead of time. When they have large proposals out like the health insurance the board members in the past have been asked to sign that they have not contacted or been contacted by an applicant.

The agenda item indicates a possible vote - Presas-garcia did not put this on the agenda unless she expected a vote - I hope saavedra will join Aguilar, Colunga and Pena in passing the issue until they can better research the credentials of the candidates

Anytime they have hired an attorney they have gone through a board committee to interview the candidates. The only exception that might exist is when the attorney walked out of the meeting after informing the Supt by a note that he had quit.

Hi, BWC
I will tell you that Rick is related to the principal at Cummings. They are cousins. But and this is a big butt *no pun intended* he found himself in quite the predicament when his good friend (who also baptized his kids), ECL, decided to be public enemy number one of his cousin. He was caught in the middle and did not take sides although both sides wanted his support. It was an ugly situation that spiraled out of control regarding ECL and his cousin. It did go to level 3 during an October board meeting.
I always give you scoop when I have facts and as always please keep me anonymous. His cousin is definately concerned this rumor of district council may be true. His cousin is not a bad person, just tried and true tough and doesn't bend for anyone. She has a good heart and good intentions, but she is a tuffy.

Hey Bobby, if a person is a tuffy does that mean they have absolutely NO PEOPLE SKILLS!
