BOINK ME NOW - TAXES, TAXES, TAXES - CITY OF BROWNSVILLE FACING THE PIPER

Some day corporatists supporters will realize that there are only to ways to raise revenue - taxes and profits from a business. Some day the anti-tax right will realize that roads do not build themselves no matter what its says in the Book of Genesis.

I still think about the people who went to the Imagine Brownsville event with their shopping lists on what is needed by the City of Brownsville. Yesterday Senator McCaskill was taken aback at her town hall meeting to have a voter tell her nothing she says will be believed because they simply do not trust her. Independent of the merits of for or against healthcare reform, any honest political observer has to agree a fundamental problem facing all politicos regardless of their political leanings is, "we do not trust them."

Why should anyone in Brownsville trust any of the members of the Brownsville City Commission. In a shameful act of self-promotion they voted approval of the Imagine Brownsville plan with full knowledge there is not a penny to pay for it. It was an out right bold face lie to the people of Brownsville. They lie because they have no conscience or regard for the people.

They voted to have the people pay to build a wall the people do not want. They have mismanaged the Sports park. They refuse to fire Cabler or Patterson for their incompetence over the Boyz’s II Men mess. Santana Torres, Director over Public Works has his employees robbing the taxpayer left and right, and they respond by saluting his service to the people.
When you see any member of the Brownsville City Commission tell them - "your time is up when you seek reelection." Tell them that it is bull crap being fed to them by the unethical lawyer Sossi that everything needs to be covered up as part of their fiduciary duty to the City of Brownsville.

Tell them not even a penny increase in property taxes until they fire Cabler, Santana Torres, and Patterson. If this City Commission cannot find a million dollars in savings by firing these three buffoons, they are bigger buffoons than the three. If they are unwilling to fire those responsible for mismanagement within city government then they are breaching their fiduciary duties to the people.

This is why we do not trust them. We should make clear as a people - we are voting no confidence in this hopelessly corrupt and inept city commission. It is time heads roll and since this city commission refuses to fire Cabler for his failure to fire Santana Torres, and Patterson, it is time we fire the City Commission and until then make their lives a living hell. The gloves are off - nothing is off limits unless it is illegal. I will publish any and all piece of garbage on their private lives which I can verify and is legal to publish.

When you lie to the people. mismanage their money, and work towards your own self preservation, you put your character into issue. As far as the BV is concerned - everything related to the character of every Brownsville City Commission is now fair game.

I heard Melissa is not making friends at city hall with her constant digging. I think she forgets she is no longer a reporter. She needs to just back off and let city staff take care of things instead of micromanaging. That's the real problem with our city.

I think we needed a comprehensive plan even if we didn't have the ability to pay for the projects. If you are trying to get funding for projects from the state or feds , you need to show them something. We have to have a plan.
I do think that we paid too much for it. Though some parts were excellent, it was more show than substance.....and it looked like it was hurried towards the end. The uniformity on the graphics and several stretched pictures are just a few of the hurried issues noticed. Rule number one in graphics is you never stretch pictures. It looks tacky and cheap. That aside, I am still glad we have it.
I also don't have issue paying the latest tax hike. What I do have an issue with is the way the money will be mismanaged and / or wasted. I agree with you regarding what is taking place at the City. Why hasn't Cabler been removed? Why hasn't there been action against the Mayor? Why hasn't the City been shocked at the cost of the sports park? Why hasn't Torres been replaced. Why hasn't Ben Medina been removed from the planning office for all the issues that have taken place over there....it's well know by all about his incompetence. The Boyz to men debacle. The toleration of employees using their city jobs to make money under the table either through their own conflict of interest businesses or outright theft? The fact that it is clear that the Commission doesn't pay much attention in reading the cases in which they vote upon? The list goes on and on and on! I'm not crazy or irrational. I don't have an axe to grind with all people in positions of power. I just want leaders that are qualified for the positions they hold, leaders who "actually get it", and real performance based accountability. Is that so wrong?

Bobby, so it's come to this. Loathe is the closest word I can come up with to describe the hatred I have for you, but this is getting out of hand. As much as I would thoroughly enjoy watching you crash and burn, don't do this. Their personal lives should never be an issue. You aren't the National Enquirer (although they were right about John Edwards).

You know the commission can't fire Patterson or Torres. They can only fire Cabler and Sossi. So why put it out there as a solution? Unless you want them to fire Cabler and Sossi and appoint interims who will fire Patterson and Torres as a quid pro quo, I might actually support it, but it sounds unethical.

I've read some pretty outlandish shit coming from you in the past, but this is way too angry for someone who has supported and argued for tax increases in the past. For the love of God, take a chill pill, apologize to your readers, or whatever can bring you some back from the wilderness fringe you've traveled to today.

Whatever you do, don't do what you just claimed you want to do.

Does this mean the honeymoon is over?

Maybe the flip side of the Comprehensive Plan is that maybe it can be used as a tool to show what the City / Commission has and hasn't done with tax payer monies. Speaking of, has the City created that Comp plan Commission they were talking about? If not don't you think they should get on the ball soon if they really are serious?

First, sorry for the late approval of so many comments, I have been getting and error message from google.

As to any commission digging at city hall - my hats off to them - we need more - a lot more - micromanaging is telling how to do it - investigating the corruption adn incompetence is the job of our city commissioners.

To loathe - some day you will learn to read - where did I complain about the tax increase per se - no where - the tax increase is almost nothing -

the point is raising our taxes while doing nothing about the mismanagment - but as is always the case with you - you look to make an issue where one does not exist because it gives you a chance to complain about my existence.

Finally, raising people's taxes while covering for public corruption puts your character into issue - this means we get to talk about your character -- it is called pressure.

further try reading the post again - I made clear - not that your can read - that cabler should be fired for not firing Torres and patterson - I think the new city manager will get the message that their term as city manager will be pretty short if they then do not fire Torres and Pattrerson

You need time to assess performance and follow protocol when firing people. The newly elected commissioners have been there less than two months.

"To loathe - some day you will learn to read - where did I complain about the tax increase per se - no where - the tax increase is almost nothing"

What's with you and reading? Were you beaten as a child because you didn't read to a grade level or something? Maybe you should learn how to read yourself. They don't teach homosexuals how to read on Long Island? Is that why you are so angry? No one said you were complaining about tax increases. What's the matter? You got white gunk in your eyes blocking your monitor?

"I've read some pretty outlandish shit coming from you in the past, but this is way too angry for someone who has supported and argued for tax increases in the past."

Go ahead. Explain how that says you were complaining about a tax increase. You won't. If anything it makes your point better than you could. You aren't happy they aren't raising it high enough but simultaneously you don't want to pay it because the city is hopelessly incompetent. You would think you'd be a little less angry and a little more celebratory that city services won't be cut to extreme if they raise taxes those proposed two cents.

"it is called pressure."

No. I think more sane people would interpret your new gloves off motto as a sad attempt at relevancy. Publishing smut and about their personal lives isn't a good strategy if you want to be taken seriously.

You said you wanted the commission punished for not firing Cabler, Patterson, AND Torres. In this case the noun/subject is the commission and who needs to do the firing.

You know what, I say, fuck you and don't let the door hit your delicate disabled ass on the way out to a looney house.

I really dislike homophobes.....when I see them go off on a rant I just can't take anyhing else they say seriously.

No Anony, that is not the REAL problem. The real problem is the status quo apathy that allows your civic leaders to be forever unaccountable to the taxpayers.

Apparently, you do not like, nor support Ms. Zamora, and that is okay; that is your right. But whether it is Ms. Zamora or any other capable citizen, those elected officals SHOULD be digging and are elected to dig. Don't you understand elected democracy? Do you know why checks and balances exist from the Constitutional level of our national government to the municipal level?

Those checks and balance, such as government oversight committees, Government Accounting Office, etc.., all exist to have OUR elected representives ensure that the government bureacracy spends the tax money the way that the people we elect tell them to and not the way they want, with no interference.

I mean no disrespect to you nor your views, but I must tell you that when I read your comment, I was taken aback. That is truly one of the most ignorant posts I have ever read.

Alonso, thats for our post - you are right on

Posters such as the one you reference truly hate everyone without substantive reason.

I locve posting through their comments because I have enough confidence in my readers to be able to see it for it is - exactly who you said it.

Thanks again

The digging comment is indicitive of the culture of the workplace in many departments within city government. Don't make waves or trouble...don't try to reform or refine....don't call out the injustices that you see.....for if you do there will be trouble...just sit down, shut up, and maybe one day you will get to be in a position to take advantage of the system one day. It's a compadradismo mentality......"It has etched into my head forever....saying (in a passive agressive and slightly intimidating manner) "why do you have to give these guys such a hard time!!!!!" I've heard it over and over again....and it is wrong!!!!

You are right. The real problem is that no one wants to be questioned. What's the problem if there's nothing to hide? Melissa is alone in her constant questions because no one wants to cause waves. She ripped the CAAC to pieces. Her and Chuck are at odds over mismanagement at the Sports Park. This is only the beginning of a battle for her and I hope she wins.

I am fairly certain based on some information which has been given to me anon a fellow commissioner is trying to destroy her - I am working on the story
