YET ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF A PROMISE OF A CHICKEN IN EVERY POT, WITH POST ELECTION AMNESIA AS THE ONLY THING THE PEOPLE CAN EXPECT FROM THE POLITICOS

As we all know this City Commission has abandoned the issue of Impact Fees. The following was posted by Bob Sanchez on his web page.

"As far as Impact Fees. I wonder why the Mayor never followed through leading that crusade for the citizens(taxpayers and ratepayers). Something must have caused him to stay mute on the popular subject since his inauguration to the mayorship. I could not voice and lead that issue alone. The majority at the PUB would stop any discussion on the issue until studies arrive, as the Mayor would agree with them and stay mysteriously quite. I could never get him to explain to me his muteness on the subject of Impact Fees since he returned to office of Mayor"

Last year during the course of the election I was proposing some type compromise of $2,500.00, with $500.00 down when the house is connected to city services, and the remainder when the house sold. I explained then, as I explain now - an increase in Impact Fees will cause all property values to go up which means higher property taxes for everyone - albeit probably not by much. My view was the city needed the money and the developers should have to pay their fair share.
I suspect at some point an appraiser friend of the mayor explained to him how appraisals work and he realized he was in fact supporting a backdoor property tax on the people. Again I have no problem with this. I continue to support my personal plan.

My issue here is, why was it such a big issue during the election and now it appears dead? Okay - I will bite - there is still ongoing paperwork and reports the commission needs before it can act. Fine - then do a workshop and give the people an update as to what is happening on the issue.
Personally I can see legitimate arguments on both sides. This is not a hot issue for me, except for the fact it was the defining issue in the election and now it appears dead. Yet another example of a promise of a chicken in every pot, with post election amnesia as the only thing the people can expect from the politicos.

Can someone explain to me with certainty - once the money is collected in which budget is the money put and how can it be used. I want to know exactly how the money will help the people.
