WHAT IS UP WITH THE HERALD AND NO NEW EDITOR ?????????

I was working on my ongoing problems with the Herald using my ATM card as their personal bank account when I came to learn by accident Freedom Communications under Careers and Brownsville Herald is not advertising for a new editor. Maybe they already hired someone and they took down the ad. Does anyone know the scoop on the poop on this one?

The editor for The Brownsville Herald is - and always has been - Douglas Hardie, who offices at the Valley Morning Star in Harlingen. He is one of the heirs to the Freedom Newspapers kingdom. Daniel Cavazos and the "editor' are just "employee lackeys" hired to do the day-to-day sloggings. You can't do investigative work without it first being "run" by Hardie. But, then, that's always been the case for this Bordertown Rag. Things won't change until - you guessed it - competition comes to town.

Thanks for the education

Hardie retired more than a year ago. Update your facts, and quit misinforming BWC's three readers.

Off topic:

Hey, Bobby, when you heard about the Governor's mansion, did you wonder if maybe Justice Medina was visiting? Maybe he's not a crook, but a pyromaniac! ;-)

Actually the accused in the case is his wife - I actually thought about making a joke about it, but then my issue with the issue is not that his wife did it or he covered it up, but the special treatment he received from the now removed former DA of Harris County -

Personally if she is guilty I think it is tragic that she would have been brought to that point by her husband's poor decisions and need for power.

For now on the issue of the fire itself - I find nothing funny - it is a tragedy all the way around -

Look for a pattern in me Patricia- if you go back to Atkinson's DWI - when every one was pouncing on him I raised the question if we have a man in crisis - diabetic and drinking -

When the issue of Villalobos wife came up I did not pounce on her - I raised the issue of because of her husband will she be poorly judged instead of as an independent well educated women.

I broke the story of Sanchez Sr. being arrested over the abandoned oil rig. I did not focus on the arrest which is why I did not upload the picture of him in the orange suit. The Herald is the one who posted the picture - not me - although readily available on the internet when I broke the story. If you remember I even stated I was angry how they were trying to use a criminal sanction to force a civil remedy and I did not like that. It is hard for me to laugh at tragedy.

I am certain I have allowed my poor judgment in the past to get the better of me - but I do try and not pounce on someone when I see a bigger problem or issue or that they are a victim of their relations.

I do not know if Mrs. Medina is guilty or innocent - I do know the politics of her husband and a now former Republican DA of Harris county has made it hard for people to believe she is innocent - something for me which still matters.
